Homeschool Conventions are one of the best and most overwhelming resources for homeschool moms. One one hand, it's a weekend packed full of resources put together to help you in all areas of your homeschool life. There are speakers, workshops, and the vendor hall. You are bound to find what you need.
On the other hand, it's a weekend packed full of resources put together to help you in all areas of your homeschool life. There are speakers, workshops, and the vendor hall. It can be overwhelming.
Aurie and Marci share their homeschool convention tips and experience to help you make the most of your first, or 5th, homeschool convention.
Check out Aurie's blog post, How To Survive A Homeschool Convention Without A Panic Attack, for more tips and helpful homeschool convention printables!
Childhood vaccinations are a hot topic for parents. It seems at times there are two camps warring against each other. Is it possible to meet somewhere in the middle?
Aurie and Marci share their vaccination experiences and open the topic up for debate.
Thanks to her precious little ones, Aurie hasn’t slept in years. So that is the focus of this episode. Aurie and Marci chat about why kids won’t go to sleep (even though they desperately need it), sleep tips that work on some kids and not on others, and share a foul-mouthed (but on the money) look at what really goes through sleep deprived parents’ minds.
And because they like rabbit trails, they also cover the new sport of stair luging and favorite Netflix binges.
Promised link---->You can determine if you are a Jennifer Garner parent or a Samuel L. Jackson parent by checking out these two YouTube videos that we talk about in this episode. They are readings of the book Go The F#@! To Sleep.
WARNING: Foul language ahead. Ship the kids out of the room, and if you don't like hearing the F-bomb, this is not for you.
Samuel L Jackson
Jennifer Garner
We sat down to chat about Christmas and ended up talking about Christmas trees the whole time. Here are a few Christmas tree topics we covered:
7:40 - Dogs, cats, and Christmas trees do not mix well
10:08 - Is it fake or artificial?
10:33 – Christmas tree needles, glitter, and Easter grass everywhere
16:57 – Why you should never rescue kittens from a Christmas tree wearing only a towel
So the 7 children between them don't make life crazy enough, why not add a few more pets into the mix. In 10 days, Marci and Aurie go from 1 dog and a sugar glider between them to 2 dogs, 1 sugar glider, 4 chinchillas, 2 cats, and one less mouse in the world.
In this episode, we talk about pet adoptions, background checks, the natural habitat of the house cat, and how much poop 4 chinchillas can produce in one night.

Snarky Homeschool Moms On Social Media
We admit it. We LOVE social media. We met on social media! Our lives and livelihoods are build around social media. And, don't forget the electronic devices! Phones, tablets, laptops... Can you imagine life without them?
As awesome as social media and our devices are, they can be distracting and destructive if not used properly. That's why we need to teach our kids the ins and outs of the digital age they were born into. We don't keep our kids away from social media and screen time, but we do want to let them experience them in age appropriate ways.
Listen to this episode and you will find out what we mean.

Being a mom is hard. It demands all your time. I'm talking 24/7. There are always mouths to feed, a house to clean, groceries to get, laundry to do, kids who won't sleep, and a practice or two to get to.
As awesome a moms all are, there comes a time when she just needs time for herself to rest and recharge and become the mom she wants to be again.
Listen in as Aurie and Marci talk about a typical mom day and why they just need time alone at the end of it!
3:34 - 4 year olds that don't require sleep
9:00 - Aurie does more before 8am than Marci does all day
12:20 - Side-tackling a filing cabinet
22:34 - Mom time increases the family's chances of survival
26:16 - Using the vacuum to drown out kids' voices
28:40 - You just have to love them. You don't have to like them.
Sometimes, instead of getting mad, you just have to admire the creativity involved in your kids' epic messes. Because before we had kids, we had no idea how many ways there were to flood a bathroom floor.
