In 1967, the owner of Liverpool's famous Cavern Club (and friend of The Beatles), Alf Geoghegan, wrote and recorded a song for his daughter, Debbie, for Christmas. For close to half a century that song has remained unheard outside of the immediate family.

Several years ago, Debbie and her husband Nigel met singer/songwriter, Michael Armstrong, and they have since become big fans of his music, even organising Michael’s debut album launch at The Cavern Club.

Last year, Debbie presented Michael with a copy of her father's Christmas song, which Michael, along with Warren Bennett, subsequently updated and recorded.

In our final show for 2016, Michael joins us in the studio to talk about breathing new life into a dad’s very personal tribute to his little girl.

'Little Girl (Bells of Christmas)' is performed by Michael Armstrong and features Brian Bennett and Warren Bennett.

Released in association with The Cavern Club in Liverpool and the brand new book 'Cavern Club: The Inside Story', written by Debbie Greenberg, both to coincide with the venue's 60th anniversary.

Changing Stations is a crowd funded, 11-track classical-contemporary album by Daniel Liam Glyn, based on the 11 main lines of the London Underground.

Daniel identifies himself as someone who has both Grapheme Colour and Spatial Sequence Synaesthesia; a neurological 'phenomenon' where a person perceives words, letters, shapes, and numbers in colour or sometimes taste and smell. This he has used to his advantage in the creation of his debut album - a truly multi-sensory experience that transports us to all corners of England’s capital city, allowing us to experience the sights, sounds and even smells of London, as well as the hidden thoughts and emotions of London’s daily commuters.

In this show we join Daniel, producer, Katie Tavini, and their Manchester based launch party for Changing Stations, to find out more about this incredible project.

Derek Fowlds is one of Britain's best loved actors, with a career spanning over 60+ years. He is known by a whole generation of children as 'Mr Derek' from The Basil Brush Show, then as Bernard Woolley, Principal Private Secretary to the Minister for Administrative Affairs, in Antony Jay and Jonathan Lynn’s biting political satire, Yes, Minister and Yes, Prime Minister, and finally as Oscar Blaketon, in ITV’s Sunday night family drama, Heartbeat (throughout its eighteen year run). But as Mr Fowlds is keen to point out, these are just three of the many roles he’s played over the years - although he accepts that these are the most ‘iconic’ and high profile!

His theatre work includes leads in Hamlet, Billy Liar, Macbeth, Chips With Everything and The Miracle Worker. Over the years he has worked with such luminaries as Sir Alec Guinness, Alistair Sim, Kenneth Moore, Anna Massey, Sir John Guilgud, Benedict Cumberbatch and Daniel Craig.
