Today's guest Madeleine Black was violently gang raped at the age of 13. The rest of her teenage years were spent locked in shame, not sharing the details of her trauma.

In this episode, Madeleine tells her story and shares how she has come to accept the facts and forgive her rapists. She also explains how writing her book and sharing her story is continuing to help her let go of the shame she felt and help others open up.

After the unexpected and sudden loss of her 37 year-old sister, today's guest found therapy and support groups were only mildly helpful for her. Seeking a more proactive approach to come to terms with what had happened, she discovered and began working with a Grief Coach. With her coach, she was able to work through all that felt unresolved, including the guilt, regret, and sadness that would have otherwise plagued her for the rest of her life. In transforming her own grief, she was inspired to help other people going through loss. She trained at the Grief Recovery Institute to become a Certified Grief Recovery Specialist.
