Originally from rural town Albury, now based in Melbourne, Jayden Michael Dunne has emerged from his bedroom with a guitar, a haircut and a medium-sized handful of new material. From the canvas of lyric-based acoustic songs, a new brand of folk music is rendered in an array of the loudest and most blithe colours, to the more morose and nostalgic shades, through the addition of string/brass arrangements, electric ambient vibes and a range of acoustic instrumentation. Through an upbringing of blues guitar, jazz piano and folk-oriented lyricism, Jayden Michael Dunne draws comparison to the likes of Gregory Alan Isakov, Glen Hansard and Joni Mitchell, while carving his own unique style in the Australian music scene. We can't wait to have a chat to Jayden about his experiences navigating the high and lows on his musical journey to date.
