  • Ever Change your Ways when you Experience Climate Change?

Global climate change is not a future problem. Changes to Earth’s climate driven by increased human emissions of heat-trapping greenhouse gases are already having widespread effects on the environment: glaciers and ice sheets are shrinking, river and lake ice is breaking up earlier, plant and animal geographic ranges are shifting, and plants and trees are blooming sooner.

    –

Effects that scientists had long predicted would result from global climate change are now occurring, such as sea ice loss, accelerated sea level rise, and longer, more intense heat waves.

    –

The effects of human-caused global warming are happening now, are irreversible for people alive today, and will worsen as long as humans add greenhouse gases to the atmosphere. We already see effects scientists predicted, such as the loss of sea ice, melting glaciers and ice sheets, sea level rise, and more intense heat waves.

    –

Scientists predict global temperature increases from human-made greenhouse gases will continue. Severe weather damage will also increase and intensify.

    –

What changes are you making? If you are not part of the solution then you are part of the problem.

  • When does it STOP being Patriotism and does it START being Brainwashing?

Patriotism – It is a form of brainwashing.

    –

This type of brainwashing takes the form of peer pressure. In most nations, it just isn’t acceptable to be considered non-patriotic. However, when you actually get down and examine the history of the founding of any of these various nation-states, and those who wrote their basic laws or constitution (think: USA) you will find that these pages are drowned in blood, and that these nations are founded on genocide.

    –

When you bring that up in conversation, someone will say “so you’re against the USA (or whatever country)… is that it?” as if being opposed to genocide were somehow a bad thing, and holding the same standard of it being bad for everyone. It’s a bad thing except when your secular saints who really aren’t secular… but imbued with some kind of quasi-religious significance were the ones who committed genocide and you’re pointing it out. And so, this becomes a kind of socially-enforced moral relativism.

    –

Moral relativism because genocide is always wrong when another nation does it, if they are an adversary. If our founding fathers did it, and you bring it up then you “hate America” or “hate our flag” or whatever it is, and that makes a strong implication that you’re wrong by virtue of being an extremist or something. Of course, it’s really just that you’re pointing out hypocrisy.

  • Use your Fame for Change and NOT Fortune

Whether you’re a celebrity, a politician, a Social Media star it all comes with lots of challenges and responsibilities that can be addressed by preserving a strong sense of self and solid boundaries between your life and the public.

    –

Reflect on the nature of your fame. Since being famous is a sought after position, it can be difficult to really take stock of the ways that fame is affecting you. Keep up healthy habits of daily life. If you have just recently become famous, you might be overwhelmed by your new success and visibility. Hold your ego in check. Your talents are a gift given to you to share with the world. Be proud and enjoy them, but stay grounded.

    –

Accept your responsibility. Being famous means recognizing that you have the responsibility to influence people in a serious way. This can be an overwhelming realization, and should not be an excuse to inflate your ego. Just like a comic book hero, responsibility means having respect for the world that you wield influence over. Try not to push your personal agenda–think outside of yourself for things you can do that others will benefit from.

    –

Embrace the voice that comes with fame. Use your fame to inspire your fans to speak up about things they care about. Because there are many eyes on you, you can motivate your fans to accomplish things and emphasize the importance of working toward a greater good more generally. Take advantage of your star power to draw attention to causes you feel strongly about.

  • 80s TV was just SO much more Wholesome

In the 1980s, sitcoms were among the most talked about and most watched shows on the air. Shows like Cheers, The Cosby Show, Murphy Brown, and The Golden Girls were always topics of conversation around the water cooler. Family sitcoms were especially popular, with the rise of shows like Family Ties, The Wonder Years, The Facts of Life, and Who’s the Boss.

    –

Procedural crime dramas like Miami Vice, Knight Rider, and Remington Steele were popular, not only for the feather-haired hunks and uniquely ’80s fashion, but also for their action-packed plots. The ’80s also saw a rise in soap-style primetime television. The goings on in Dynasty and Dallas were constant topics of conversation. Many of the more popular shows lasted well into the next decade, but even some of the most well-remembered shows of the 80s only lasted a season or two, such as Max Headroom and The Greatest American Hero.

    –

What are your favorite shows from the ’80s?

  • Life is Only as Hard as you Make It

For those with anxiety or depression, or even those of us who are just going through a rough patch, our minds seem bent on telling us just how wrong everything could go.

    –

But the truth is, things can turn around. Things can go really right, and often they do.

    –

So next time you find your mind trying to convince you of negative lies, stop, acknowledge what your brain is doing, and correct the thought by asking yourself: what are the odds of this actually happening? Then shift your focus to how the situation can turn around, think about all the good things that could happen.

  • Nothing Gets Deleted from the Internet, Ever.

In today’s digital age, a less-than-stellar online reputation can affect your employment, personal life, and even financial prospects. When you discover negative and damaging information about yourself or your business online, you want to get that content removed, and quickly.

    –

The internet is an ever-expanding world of its own. Profiles, web pages, blog posts, articles, videos, comments, likes, tweets… there’s a plethora of content and information living behind the screen. Google and other search engines can show negative, harmful content that is bad for your reputation.

    –

The reality is you can minimize what stays on the internet but it will NEVER be completely gone. There is too many parts to the web and archives. Be careful what you put out there cause as they say it WILL come back to haunt you.

  • Why do People need to be Loud while Driving?

For those not particularly automotively-inclined, it can be hard to understand why some individuals love having a vehicle that alerts the whole neighborhood to its presence wherever it goes. Why do some drivers seem to get such joy from specifically optimizing their vehicle to make noise? Why do some people like loud cars?

    –

There are several main reasons why certain people like their cars to be loud: it gives them a thrill, they want to show off, there are slight performance increases, and it’s attention getting, they are lonely and starved for attention. Though we can’t account for every possible reason a human may enjoy a loud vehicle, as there are so many different types of individuals in the world, these seem to be the most common reasons. Let’s now focus our attention on each one with greater depth.

    –

Of course, not every engine sound is equal. Some people may love the sound of a truly powerful engine like a Ferrari, but not enjoy that of an old and struggling “beater.” Today we are going to discuss this a bit to try and understand what is wrong with the mentality of some people.

  • Things to know about regarding ex-convicts.

Once you have served your debt to society, you will walk out of prison a free person. What you do with your life is up to you. Becoming a productive member of society will require that you find a job and treat any addictions or mental health problems you have. Fortunately, help is available, but you’ll need to do your research to find it. Your success will also depend on avoiding other criminals and maintaining a positive attitude.

    –

Yesterday we heard from an ex-con about what it was like for him to transition from life behind bars to life on the outside. He says having a mentor helped a lot – someone to whom he felt a true sense of responsibility – and he didn’t want to screw it up by doing something bad and winding up back in prison.

    –

I asked a handful of other former inmates to share their advice for those who are about to or are in the midst of transitioning back into society. We will discuss and details around ex-cons in today’s episode.

  • If you were able to Design the Perfect World…

Pretending to live in a perfect world is a key to fundamental change. By doing so, we set aside our conventions and preconceived notions. Pretending to live in a perfect reality opens the doors to perfect design. Such an ideal reality is, however, perfectly imperfect. It makes the glass ceiling of limiting beliefs visible that stands in the way of growth and transformation.

    –

Many of the Perfect World Principles are ‘mind-expanding’. They appeal to unconscious, naive, even childlike-abil- ities to unleash creative potential. The key to this is ‘pretense’. After all, we are under no obligation to regard an exist- ing reality as an absolute fact. We can just create a new one.

  • A Little Positivity Goes A Long Way

A little positive goes a long way. Cliche right? But, it’s so so true.

    –

Sometimes, it’s really hard to stay motivated and keep going. I get lazy and decide to take a nap instead of go to the gym, or I decide that it’s just too cold to walk outside. I get pickish late at night while watching Netflix, and I often snack a little more than I should. Sometimes, I feel like all my efforts are going to nothing, and I’ll never reach my goal. Then I remind myself: stay positive.

    –

The bottom line is, a little positivity goes a long way. Not only will your positive act create ripples that affect those who are exposed to your message, but you will notice more positivity and optimism around you, further encouraging you to share and extend your ripple.
