  • We need Gamer Reviews

So, there’s a general understanding that reviews are important. However, I sometimes think people don’t grasp just how important they truly are. Year after year, there is more and more data demonstrating the importance of consumer behavior, positive reviews, social validation and more. For example, according to BrightLocal’s Local Consumer Review Survey, 91% of 18-34-year-old consumers trust online reviews as much as personal recommendations.

    –

From my experience, even in an industry such as professional services, poor reviews or a lack of reviews can be detrimental. We found that consumers expect businesses in this industry to have a minimum average Google rating of 3.84 across at least 20 reviews. This was compounded by a question we asked: “On a scale 1-10, if you narrowed down two professionals you liked, but one had much better reviews online, how much would that impact your final decision?” The average of all the responses was 7.931.

  • What is Gaslighting?

Gaslighting – an elaborate and insidious technique of deception and psychological manipulation, usually practiced by a single deceiver, or “gaslighter,” on a single victim over an extended period. Its effect is to gradually undermine the victim’s confidence in his own ability to distinguish truth from falsehood, right from wrong, or reality from appearance, thereby rendering him pathologically dependent on the gaslighter in his thinking or feelings.

    –

As part of the process, the victim’s self-esteem is severely damaged, and he becomes additionally dependent on the gaslighter for emotional support and validation. In some cases the intended (and achieved) result is to rob the victim of his sanity. The phenomenon is attested in the clinical literature as a form of narcissistic abuse whereby the extreme narcissist attempts to satisfy his pathological need for constant affirmation and esteem (for “narcissistic supply”) by converting vulnerable people into intellectual and emotional slaves whom he paradoxically despises for their victimhood. Because the gaslighter is himself typically psychologically disordered, he is often not fully aware of what he is doing or why he is doing it.

  • Peer Pressure has a New Name…

Peer pressure, or influence, comes in several forms, and these types of peer pressure can have a tremendous impact on a young person’s behavior. Research shows the most impressionable age for peer influence seems to be the middle school years. This is when a child is forming new friendships and choosing an identity among those friends.

    –

It is also the most common age for kids to start experimenting with alcohol, drugs, sexual activity and other risky behaviors. Very often, the drive to engage in this kind of behavior is a result of negative peer pressure. Adolescents who have larger circles of friends appear to be less influenced by the suggestions or actions of their peers, but the pressure to conform is very real at this age.

  • When you surpass your mentor…

Mentors can be lifesavers — until they’re not anymore. When you outgrow a mentor, surpass them in their skills, or simply establish your own level of sufficiency and independence to function as their equal, breaking up can be hard to do.

The most talented go-getters often find older, wiser mentors to guide them early in the careers. But as more young managers ascend to the executive suite while still in their 20s and 30s, they are finding that they surpass their mentors in terms of pay or chain of command—and might even become their mentor’s boss.

    –

If you rise fast enough, then you can accomplish more than your mentor ever dreamed for himself. That creates a delicate situation in which a mentor’s envy and jealousy can overtake his fond feelings for all your success. And you never want a mentor to turn against you.

    –

Here’s how to maintain a positive relationship with your mentor despite your meteoric ascent.

  • Only the Lonely

It’s no secret that dating is different in the post-lockdown era. Whether you and your quarantine boo didn’t make it or you’ve been single for the long haul, making social or romantic connections in person is a bit more difficult than it used to be. Beyond the effects of isolation — like unexpected social anxiety brought on by the extended time you spent alone baking banana bread or learning a ridiculous amount of TikTok dances — figuring out how to meet someone to date IRL has essentially become a collective struggle for many singles.

    –

When it comes to putting yourself out there and meeting a potential beau, there are times when simply being mutual friends on Instagram or matching on Bumble doesn’t cut it. If you’re a social butterfly (or even if you’re not), getting out of the house and into a social setting might just be the key when it comes to meeting someone organically. While some online dating options are starting to get savvy with the ways you can show your real personality, like Hinge’s video prompts, there’s nothing that can truly replicate being able to pick up on someone’s physical energy or mannerisms when you’re face-to-face.

  • Don't call me Buddy!

What does it mean when someone calls you buddy?

Buddy is most commonly used as an informal word for a friend. Buddy is often used as a form of address (as in Hey, buddy, I haven’t seen you in a while!) or a term of endearment (an affectionate way of referring to someone). It is sometimes shortened to bud.

    –

    Is being called Buddy disrespectful?

The use of the term buddy may be offensive to the individual, even if they do not show it or are not capable of communicating this. The use of the term buddy may be offensive to the individual, even if they do not show it or are not capable of communicating this.

    –

    Is calling someone Buddy professional?

No. Buddy is an informal word that we use for close friends. Even if we happen to be close friends with a person we work with, we need to keep a professional demeanor at work, so we tend to use more formal words.

  • The Power of Music

For years, researchers have studied the effects of sound on the human brain. Specifically, people have tried to understand why certain sounds alter someone’s mood, physical sensations, and even memory.

    –

The most common example of this phenomenon is music. It’s a form of art and tradition inherent to every known culture on Earth, and in some cases music (particularly the use of chants, horns, and drums) predates organized language.

    –

To fully appreciate the psychology of music, you can break the topic down into three key categories: how our brains process sound, how music affects the brain, and how music therapy can be used to improve anyone’s life.

  • You'll never know unless you ask…

Growing up I was a very shy little guy. I was so shy that I rarely put myself out there in situations that I was unfamiliar with and never asked other people for favors unless I was either in desperate need or very familiar with the other person.

    –

I remember my mum telling me on numerous occasions when I was too shy to ask people things – ‘you’ll never know unless you ask’.

    –

It struck me today that while I’m still pretty shy that I wouldn’t be where I am today if I’d not overcome my inability to put myself ‘out there’ and had I not learned to ‘ask’ others for help.

  • Let it go and dont dwell on the past

If there’s a thing or two that pain will teach you in this lifetime, it’s how it feels to swim and how it feels to sink. We must learn both. We must make this discovery because without determining how much effort it takes to keep our head afloat, or even understand how it feels to hit rock bottom, we will not truly understand our power.

    –

With that power, we can break away from the past and stop dwelling.

    –

Dwelling on the past means reading the same chapter over and over again while expecting the ending to change. It’s reopening wounds and allowing opportunities for self-sabotage. Dwelling on the past is the biggest roadblock from moving forward, and life will move forward whether you’re on board with it or not.

    –

No matter what we do, time will continue to tick, and days will begin to pass. The morning will turn to night, seasons will change, and years will pass with or without our consent. I get it, letting go is easier said than done. It may take some time, but the first step is the willingness to take that step.

    –

When you begin to recognize that it’s time to move on, then you are letting the universe know that you are ready to accept and welcome change. Change is nothing to be scared about, because without change, there is no flow.

  • Please don't SEO offer my Inbox!

Spam email — also called junk mail or spam mail — refers to unsolicited messages sent in bulk to many different email addresses. Most spam appears in the way of relatively harmless emails from advertisers. But spam is also a low-risk, high-reward method for scammers to unleash phishing attacks.

    –

Just opening a spam email can result in getting even more spam, and clicking a malicious link or attachment can expose you to ransomware or other types of malware, such as the Emotet botnet that spreads from inbox to inbox.
