Throughout our lives we continually develop and construct an image of ourselves based on our interaction with the world around us and by reflecting on our experiences and how we feel. As we get older, the image that we have of ourselves becomes clearer and more consistent. We develop a better idea of who we are in the world and how we feel about ourselves. This becomes our stable and consistent core, the way we see ourselves. And this image of ourselves has an impact on how we react and present ourselves in different situations.
–
Of course, in different environments we might show different aspects of ourselves. We might have slightly different images of ourselves in the classroom versus with our friends versus with our families. But our core self-image usually stays stable and consistent and balanced. Being able to rely on this stability is what allows us to make good and appropriate decisions in any environment and stay true to ourselves.

I remember the time I once explained to an 18-year-old how the teenage brain works: “So that’s why I feel like my head’s exploding!” the teen replied, with pleasure.
–
Parents and teachers of teens may recognize that sensation of dealing with a highly combustible mind. The teenage years can feel like a shocking transformation – a turning inside out of the mind and soul that renders the person unrecognizable from the child they once were. There’s the hard-to-control mood swings, identity crises and the hunger for social approval, a newfound taste for risk and adventure, and a seemingly complete inability to think about the future repercussions of their actions.
–
In the midst of this confusion, adolescents are consistently assessed for their academic potential – with ramifications that can last a lifetime. No one’s fate is sealed at 18 – but an impeccable school record will certainly make it far easier to find a place at a prestigious university, which will in turn widen your options for employment. Yet the emotional rollercoaster of those years can make it extremely difficult for teens to reach their intellectual potential.
–
It is only within the past two decades or so that scientists have been able to chart the neural changes across this core period of development, and decode the mysteries of the teenage brain.

Do you know someone who always seems to be picking a fight for no apparent reason? Are they just argumentative, or is there something deeper going on? Today I’m teaching you the five reasons people pick fights and the three things you can do to make the craziness stop.
–
As you might imagine, there are many reasons people pick fights, but in my experience, they boil down to a few reasons that are all happening at a subconscious level (aka: they don’t realize they’re doing it).

Success is good but Failure is better.
–
You must not let successes get to your head but also must not let failure consume your heart. Know that, sometimes, actually most times, things don’t go as planned and that is perfectly fine.
–
For many young people, it’s easy to simply give up when things don’t work out. But if there is one thing you shouldn’t do it is just that: Do NOT give up …because the reality is you’re going to fail…a lot.
–
But failure doesn’t mean your idea wasn’t valid or that your dream isn’t good enough. Failure simply means there is something to be learned or another direction to be taken.

Why should you Find Your Life’s Purpose? Who are you and why are you here? Many traditions revolve around one central question: “Who am I ?” Even the business world ponders this crucial matter. According to business gurus, the first step on the road to success is asking yourself this very question: “What’s my mission? What on Earth am I doing? Am I in the right place?”
–
If you can’t answer these questions, then you are wasting 90% of your time and energy doing things that are neither your mission nor your business! You will feel an inner anxiety, urging you to search for the deeper meaning of your life. If you consider living to be painful, if you feel dissatisfied, if you feel “there must be more than this”, if you feel out of place in this world, then you have not yet found the purpose of your life.
–
If you are questioning the meaning of life, if you can’t find inner peace, if you are not satisfied with choices you’ve made in life, if you don’t know which way to turn, if you feel your life is stuffed with things that aren’t of your choosing and that don’t satisfy you, if you often feel burdened and bad-tempered, if you “have everything to feel happy” but don’t, then it is time for you to discover your true self!
–
Human beings want to feel useful. We long to give our lives some deeper meaning. As long as you have not discovered this deeper meaning, you feel frustrated and on the wrong track.
–
We want our lives to be worthwhile. This does not mean we need to achieve ‘great feats’ or become world famous. We just need to feel in place and do the right thing surrounded by the right people. It’s about finding out our mission. It’s about finding ‘inner peace’.
–
Our mission on Earth is twofold. The general aspect is that we are here to learn to bring more love into the world. The personal aspect is that everyone has its own peculiar, unique way of doing this. Your mission represents the central piece of your life.
–
The surrounding pieces represent your family, your relationship, your kids, your job, your home, your health, your friend, and so on. The centerpiece holds all of this together. That centerpiece, that’s you. You are the most important person in your life, and you came to this world to do something important. Otherwise, you simply would not be here!

Be free, live your life, be the master… of your destiny! Follow thy heart, follow thy dreams, live out of the convention and screw this and screw that…
–
I suddenly realized that I have been repeating this cool sounding phase of being the master of your destiny all these years, without pausing for one second to question the true meaning of such grand word: Mastery.
–
To be a master of something isn’t about having or obtaining a status. It is something that you have to become with time and practice. It is about skills that you gained out of hard work. Taking ownership to one’s life is, therefore, more than buying a fruit can from the supermarket.
–
In fact, once you’ve mastered something, you don’t even have to use willpower. Everything would just be in a flow. Just like typing. Your fingers effortlessly do their magic across the keyboard. Just like walking. Our feet effortlessly put themselves in front of each other to move forward. But how did we ever get there?
–
Well. We tried, we failed, and we succeeded.

Sure, “true love” sounds great, but what does it really mean? We talked with experts to better understand the concept and what it entails, and what true love looks like between romantic partners.
–
Love is, well, wonderful. It makes you feel warm and fuzzy inside. It feels good to give it and receive it. There are many forms of love: romantic love, transformative love between a parent and a child, the strong connection between friends or family members, and, for many people, the uncomplicated bond they have with their beloved pets. Though love is powerful in many different forms, here Mad Morgan explores true love as it pertains to romantic partnerships.
–
What does “true love” actually mean? And how do you know if you have it?

You don’t spend so much time fixated on the glory days of your youth because your life sucks now, your life sucks now because you spend so much time fixated on the glory days of your youth. Your youth is a ship leaving the harbor, slowly but steadily getting smaller and smaller before disappearing on the horizon, and no amount of wishful thinking can change that, but at the same time by holding on tight to the past those same old neurons fire and for that space of time it’s as if you are in fact living those glory days all over again, as if the ship were right there in front of you.
–
And there’s nothing wrong with nostalgia once in a while, with summoning up great memories. It only becomes a trap when you cease to appreciate all the wonders and opportunities awaiting you in your here and now, when you start to consider your living situation to be nothing more than an afterthought, as somehow less real than what was. And what made those glory days so special in the first place? It was your own perception, your own attitude towards the world and people, more than anything else. You lived with abandon, you were spontaneous, you saw life as one big adventure, you sucked the nectar out of experiences big and small.
–
There’s no rule that says you suddenly have to stop living with abandon, to stop being spontaneous, to stop seeing life as an adventure, to stop sucking the nectar out of experiences, just because you’ve reached a certain age.
–
It’s only by ceasing to hold on so tight to how things were that you can make mental and emotional space for what is in order to do something special with your current set of circumstances. How can you expect any other outcome than your life sucking now if you don’t pay it the proper care and attention, if you don’t fully live it? Let go of the old glory days and start living new glory days.

This has been a year of wild — and sometimes unpredictable — weather, with extreme events hitting all corners of the world. A ferocious winter storm slammed much of the United States over Christmas weekend, with parts of Western New York under blizzard conditions for several days. The “bomb cyclone” storm stretched from the Great Lakes to the Rio Grande, bringing with it snow, high winds, and frigid temperatures.
