Sober for Life episodes

  • SFL Epd #017 - Do You Want To Be Healed?

Brent Clark is a 33-year-old recovering alcoholic and drug addict. As a young adult, he had the world going for him; but with a few poor life choices, he began a downward spiral which would take 7 years to recover from. He went from being a member of the U.S. Military, to a proud police officer, to a convicted felon sitting behind bars. In Sober for Life, a Christian Addiction Recovery Podcast, Brent speaks on how even the smallest choices can lead to the biggest of outcomes; taking him from the man he was, to discovering the man he wanted to be, and creating the man that he is. Only after hitting a new rock bottom and giving his struggles over to God, was he able to start climbing back up, one step and one prayer at a time.

  • SFL Epd #014 - Overcoming Our Setbacks

In this episode of Sober for Life, Brent speaks on setbacks in life. Each and every one of us will experience them. We will see minor setbacks as well as much larger ones. Keeping in mind that they will happen, we must know how to deal with them when they do. If we become stagnant and simply fall into a rut, we may never recover. Our only option is to pick ourselves back up and keep moving.

  • SFL Epd #011 - Hitting Rock Bottom

First of all, I want to thank my amazing wife for the work she put in to helping design our new logo for the show.

Second, I want to thank all of our listeners and fans for all of the support as we now take a new approach to the show, Sober for Life - A Christian Addiction Recovery Podcast. I owe my recovery to God and as such feel He deserves the recognition in everything that I've learned and how much I've grown.

In episode #11, Brent discusses he difficulties with hitting rock bottom, as well as why it can be important for us to reach that place. Using first hand examples from the Bible, Brent explains why hitting rock bottom can be just was God wants for us, and where we need to go from there.

  • SFL Epd #009 - Recognizing the Signs of Relapse

As we venture down the road of recovery, there are many obstacles that may arise. If we are not careful about the people we surround ourselves with, the activities we participate in, and the situations we place ourselves in, the chances of a relapse increase. However, if we can learn what the signs of relapse are, and learn to recognize them, then we can develop a game plan and avoid going back down the road of addiction.

  • SFL Epd #008 - 12 Step Program 9-12

Just as important as going through the 12 step program is understanding the 12 steps. In order to get the most out of what the 12 steps have to offer, we have to understand what they are, why they are there, and what they mean, as well as how we can complete them. In the next three weeks, Brent will be going into each of the 12 steps one by one to give a better understanding on this key part of the recovery process.
