Social Fabric Podcast

"Think about your favourite meal from a restaurant or your home. You can probably immediately recall the smells and tastes of those dishes!Remember the last time you went for a hike, paddle, surf or climb and how good that simple sandwich tasted afterwards? Now, combine the best of both these worlds! Proper food in the outdoors."This is onhttp://www.kierancreevy.com/#expedition-chef ( Kieran's website) and he talks to me about his passion of the outdoors, travelling, sports and of course cooking.

I spoke to Orla in April 2020 over Zoom.

She spoke to me from the hospice in the a suburb of Dublin where she had been residing.

We weren't able to meet face to face due to the Covid 19 restrictions.

And to this day I don't know what Orla looks like.

She had been campaigning for the Dying with Dignity Bill to be passed and today, by pure coincidence, the Bill has been re-submitted to the Government for consideration.

It was Orla's wish to release the podcast after her passing.

Below is an extract from a number of email exchanges that we had.

"As I mentioned, it was good to listen back to.

I feel the Social Fabric Podcast is a force for good in the world and am proud to have been a part of it.

And please share it after I've passed in a few more days time.

Orla "

Died 28th August 2020

May she Rest In Peace.

When I started the Social Fabric Podcast I had an idea of rebuilding the fabric of society through conversations.

Just over two years on and 100 guests, that idea is turning into reality.

Some small communities have been created around these conversations, some changes have taken place, some collaborations and a of course some wonderful stories have been told.

I am forever grateful to every single guest that has taken the time to share a story with me, every single listener that has allowed me to keep them company week in and week out, https://www.linkedin.com/in/ross-thompson-21a59420/ (Ross Thompson) for hosting this episode, http://nearfm.ie/ (NearFM) for their support and for broadcasting it weekly, the https://whaletheatre.ie/ (Whale Theatre) for inviting me to create the live podcast events and https://open.spotify.com/track/072Wjl6rPoo2dlD7nDkLzv?si=8FMbdFKJS3W2lWiWsgGnXA (Lucky Bones) for the song Alice, the title tune.
