Today on Episode 16, of The Socialista Podcast, I was invited to the Hydrant Club by Owner and Dog Whisperer Cathy Brooks. The Hydrant Club is a dog park, daycare, and dog training /human education facility right on Fremont street (you can't miss it! Just look for the big, yellow hydrant. Today I was able to learn more about Cathy, from growing up in Philly to working in California, taking a spiritual trip in Peru to finally making her way to Las Vegas five years ago, Cathy has such an amazing story of self-reflection and drive. Cathy has so much to offer, not just as a business owner, but as a human. We could have talked for another 3 hours and I would have been as invested as today's conversation. Today of episode 15 of The Socialista Podcast, I invite over Las Vegas Songwriter, Halsey Harkins! First off let me say she is a wonderful soul with some pretty awesome things on the horizon. Halsey was born and raised in Southern California and moved to Vegas at just 6 years old. She talks about her home schooling experience. Her and her older siblings were home schooled by her mother, until around middle school. In high school, at LVA, she started to focus more on music. She started out playing in jazz band, which now transpires into her songwriting. Over the last two years, Halsey has made her way around Las Vegas playing at many Downtown and Casinos. Her next adventure as you will hear in the interview is playing Jersey Boys on Norwegian Cruises! Listen to learn more!

Today on episode 13 of the Socialista Podcast, I have an amazing conversation with Josh Molina, the co-owner of Makers & Finders. It was so wonderful to learn more about this highly acclaimed cafe, which started from Josh's love of interacting with people and wanting to have a spot where people can enjoy coffee and latin-fusion cuisine. As a early teen, Josh was driven to work. He pursued various jobs and pushed himself through college. Once realizing he wanted to get into the restaurant business, he did everything he could to learn as much as possible. Josh's passion comes across loud and clear during our interview. Today on Episode 12 of the Socialista Podcast, Lo the Dino stops by the tiny home to talk about her upbringing and how she came to be a well known Vegas DJ. Lo moved to Las Vegas in 2012 after living in California most of her life. She explains that her parents choice of music (her mom was a singer!) has influenced some of the mixes she creates. She originally went to school for film, she found that her passion was in music composition and movie soundtracks. She didn’t take DJing seriously until later in college and again after she met The Rabbit Hole. Lo even had a podcast about underground music during her college years! Lo now plays all over Downtown Las Vegas, including the weekly Friday night show “No Where” at the Sahara Lounge.
