Today on Episode 9 of The Socialista Podcast, I get the chance to have a conversation with Ryan Brunty, the artist, and creator behind Depressed Monsters. I learn more about his childhood, growing up in Las Vegas, spending his time drawing and later realizing going through periods of depression. Ryan opens up about his battle with depression and anxiety as a young adult which led him to stay in his room for two weeks after the passing of his grandfather. He talks more in-depth about how this period of depression influenced his creative paintings and drawings. This was the beginning of Yerman the Yeti and Depressed Monsters. The Depressed Monsters brand now uses characters, such as Yerman, to break down the barriers and stigma around mental health. Ryan has turned a tough point in his life into a passion-driven creative outlet and business to talk more about mental health issues. Listen to learn more about Ryan's journey and Depressed Monsters.

Today on Episode 8 of The Socialista Podcast, I have and an exclusive interview with local musician, Sabriel. Sabriel is a talented artist who began her music career in 2011 at the age of 16. We discuss everything from being born and raised in Las Vegas (our first native guest!), how growing up with classic musicians like Prince shaped her style, and some of the amazing videos she planning. I learned that at the age of 3, Sabriel began taking dance lessons which helped her transition to the performer she is today. She is very involved behind-the-scenes of her performances and music videos and gives some great advice to women who are looking to jumpstart their music career.

Today on episode 7 of The Socialista Podcast, I sit down with Jean Munson, the Founder of Plot Twist Publishing. Jean and I originally met at the Las Vegas Women's March Anniversary rally, her art was the chosen t-shirt design for the official Las Vegas Women's March merch. Jean was born and raised in Guam, she talks about the familial and societal expectations a woman has and how not fitting into the mold inevitably pushed her to persevere and create the life she wanted. We talk everything from learning about feminism, the reluctance she felt from peers, and how she gave herself a name in the comics world. Jean is a prime example of a pioneer!

Today of Episode 6 of The Socialista Podcast, I chat all things conscious living with Kelly Bennett(another East Coast babe)! Kelly is the Creative Director and a restaurant partner of Vegenation, as well as the founder of With Brave Company, a creative studio for change makers. She explains her passion for developing a conscious brand stemmed from her childhood. She always knew she wanted to be a business owner and one who wanted to do something for the social good. At a young age, she was hungry to go to college and learn as much as she could about starting a business. Kelly's adventures had led her to study abroad three times, live in NYC and finally landed her in Vegas to help build the Vegenation brand and start her own company.

Today on Episode 5 of The Socialista Podcast, I have a wonderful conversation with Diana Edelman. Through talking about her childhood and family we discover that we both are from the East Coast! Diana walks me through her career in PR which eventually led her to move between cities, and finally discover her greatest passion... traveling and helping others. Her experience living in Thailand and writing about an elephant sanctuary led her to a vegan lifestyle. After moving back to Las Vegas, she found her calling, starting an extensive guide to vegan dining which is now Vegans, Baby.
