The gospel of what God has done through Christ to give us everlasting life with Him, satisfy every charge against us and every desire of our souls is what Paul has been preaching to the Corinthians, but they were in danger of becoming numb and apathetic to it. Just like they once looked at Jesus in human terms, the Corinthians were now looking at their lives as messengers of reconciliation in human terms, and it looked small and weak and utterly undesirable. And as they lived half-heartedly between the kingdom of this world and the kingdom of God, it wasn't just their affections for and experience of God's costly grace that were being clammed up, but their message of reconciliation as well. And so here in 2 Corinthians 6:1-13, Paul opens his life wide open to show us that a life of reconciliation is a life wholeheartedly worth living and displaying to the world.
