The church has spent many years focused on the individual and salvation, such that we have missed another facet of life as a believer- community. God designed us to live in relationship with Him and in the body of Christ: a multi-generational, family community. We relate together in our common life with Christ; empowered by the Holy Spirit, making disciples and advancing the kingdom of God. We can’t do it in isolation- we need each other.

Paul describes the family of God as the body of Christ- one body with many members. Our physical bodies have many parts with different functions, and not one part is more important than the other. So are we in the body of Christ! We were each created with unique gifts and abilities- when we are functioning in our roles, we move together in unity, growing and maturing, accomplishing the will of God and advancing His kingdom everywhere that we go.

Culture today celebrates independence, but God established us as the body of Christ- a spiritual family made up of natural relationships. Just like God is Father, Son and Holy Spirit, we are created to be connected with each other. Each of us has something unique to give. When we are connected properly, we all grow together in maturity- advancing the kingdom of God.

The dreams that are in our hearts are anchored in the very purpose for which we were created by our Heavenly Father. The devil may try to steal our capacity to dream, but our dreams our powerful because by their very nature they destroy hopelessness. Though disappointment, discouragement and failure may come, we don’t have to camp out there- keep going! Keep your eyes on Jesus- He’s walked through it all. When failure comes, fail quickly- garnering strength and encouragement from your community.

Finally, refuse to stop dreaming big! Quote: I have come to the deep conclusion that it is my very broken-ness, fallibility, and sinfulness- my inability to be someone or do something that qualifies me for the grace of God.
