Today, we continue our coverage of Syria. U.S. Secretary of State Rex Tillerson is on the ground in Moscow, Russia to defend Trump's bombing last week of a Syrian government airfield that housed both Syrian and Russian government personnel and equipment. Tillerson also aims to create a rift between Russia and Syria, as well as to promote regime change in Syria. Russia disagrees with the view of U.S. and western governments who claim that the Assad government was responsible for the recent chemical attack on civilians. Also, the United States is claiming that Russia knew about the attack and was complicit in it. Russia has denied any complicity and has called for U.N. inspectors to investigate the chemical attack and find out who was responsible. The country has accused the U.S. of an illegal action with its bombing. Our guest is Stephen Zunes, journalist, author and professor of politics and international studies at the University of San Francisco, as well as coordinator of the school's program in Middle Eastern studies.
