There are instances of plants thriving in the presence of neglect. Usually this does not happen, though. Plants need to be cared for; notice has to be made as to whether or not they have enough water. They need to be watered at appropriate times. We need to look at our lives in a similar way. Do we have the vibrant growth and the extensive root structure that promotes healthy shoots and in turn, produces abundant fruit? God always invites us to come to the water, to experience the life that is ours because of the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ, and to grow in God’s image.

He chose to give birth to us by giving us his true word. And we, out of all creation, became his prized possession. Understand this, my dear brothers and sisters: You must all be quick to listen, slow to speak, and slow to get angry. Human anger does not produce the righteousness God desires. James 1:18-20 (NLT)

We will never find Jesus or choose him if at some point we do not stop running and wavering—and face him and seek him and respond to him.

It is time to choose.

We live in a day in which many people are extremely casual about the things of God. Religious pluralists claim that any effort to worship God is a good thing so long as people are sincere.

Even professing evangelicals are very lax in their approach to worship, often disregarding biblical teaching about how the Lord wants us to approach Him. Today, I want us to see just how critical it is that we approach our holy God according to the ways He has prescribed.

We all know that lots of things can go wrong with our faces! And we depend on mirrors to tell us what is wrong. A man does not want to go out in public with blood on his collar from shaving. And a woman doesn't want to be seen with lipstick on the end of her nose. So, we look in the mirror. But what would you think about a person who looks, sees a problem and then fails to correct it? You would say that there was absolutely no point in that person looking in the mirror. Looking in the mirror only works if it leads to action. Otherwise, it is useless.
