Jennifer Austin is a hypnotherapist who specialises in skin conditions. Today, she talks about the emotional and mental toll that chronic skin conditions can take. Jennifer discusses her own challenges with her skin, including losing her job and how she found hope and built a new life with the help of Solution Focused Hypnotherapy when nothing else seemed to help. She gives some fantastic insight into the ways she helps her clients and some invaluable tools that can be used to tackle the itch and break the scratching or picking cycle.
This episode explores how chronic skin conditions can shape identity, sleep, confidence, relationships, and work, and why treating the emotional load matters as much as the physical symptoms. As well as sharing her professional approach, Jennifer also talks about and her own experience with eczema, topical steroid withdrawal (TSW), and recovery.
