This meditation is supported by research showing that mindfulness and relaxation techniques can reduce pain perception and inflammation in arthritis patients.
This could be read to someone who experiences chronic pain.
Perhaps while they rest.
Perhaps while they participate in the meditation.
Perhaps it is read aloud as you practice...and thereby serve as a role model for another who is might appreciate help with their own chronic pain management
.
This meditation is a gentle journey of acceptance, connection, & inner peace, and is inspired by the Dàoist principles of flow and harmony as well as deep reverence for natural cycles of existence. It is designed to support both those approaching life's final transition and their loving companions.
Let's remember, that we may be interrupted at any time. Our connection may be cut short. Any interruptions to our planned time together can serve as a lesson in detaching gracefully from expectations and wishes. If we are interrupted, may be receive the interruption readily, gracefully, and with tender kindness. Any interruption can itself be a profound lesson and opportunity to practice loss. In this hospice period, interrruptions may be more frequent, more varied, less predictable, and more disconcerting. Be prepared. Enjoy whatever meditation duration you may be blessed enough to share. Perhaps later, you will find an opportunity to return to shared meditation. Perhaps not.
Thoughts to Have and/or Share throughout:
- "This moment is complete."
- "Love knows no boundaries."
- "Joy at having known Life at all - a Life determined to flow through us."
Return to this meditation whenever you need to reconnect with the natural flow of being.
Perhaps each evening. A gift to your subconscious before sleep.
Perhaps each morning. A bit of mental nutrition to begin your day.
Each time you Practice, you strengthen your connection to life's endless renewal
.
Prologue:
This isn't about living with or dealing with or fixing the "other side." There is no "other side." We are all imperfect humans - growing toward true understanding. Perhaps slowly, perhaps haltingly, perhaps argumentatively. But we are all merely people at various stages of the same Learning. We are quite literally all in the same classroom. Here for the same lessons. And, as one would expect in any school, here with various capabilities and all at different stages in our Great Learning. Compassion as companion is our key.
Welcome to this moment of stillness and reflection. This meditation is inspired by Dàoist Principles of harmony, flow, & interconnectedness. Together, we will hold a tree in our mind’s eye - or, if you are near one, in your actual sight - and explore it from multiple perspectives, just as the Dào teaches us to embrace the ever-changing nature of existence.
