Reporting live from Mexico City, I'm back on my solo travel grind, soaking up culture and exploring the city. But even after leaving the country, I couldn't escape the shockwaves Jay-Z sent through hip-hop this past weekend at Roots Picnic.

I break down the lyrics, subliminals, and disses throughout his performance, then dive into whether this moment is ultimately good for hip-hop and what it means in the context of J. Cole's decision to step away from the beef years ago.

From there, I pivot to a couple of films I recently caught in theaters. If you're a cinephile, or even just a casual moviegoer, you've probably heard the buzz around 'Obsession' and 'Backrooms'. I give my thoughts on both and discuss why they're generating so much conversation.

On his first trip to New York, Vaughn takes us through his upbringing in SA and the experiences that shaped his path in music. We revisit our time in the 'bush' and how moments like that create real, lasting bonds.

He shares how a mix of early success, timing, and luck led to touring with Bas across South Africa and Europe and how mentorship and collaboration have since become central to how he works.
