Unmade Bedtime Stories: The Siren

Salutations, dreamers of the deep, 

this is Shelby King speaking. 

Tonight, I will share the first of my inspired renditions of existing tales. 

Fittingly, Beginning with the Prince of the fairytale, the eccentric eternal child, Hans Christian Andersen and his sorrowful Little Mermaid. 

Read through different lenses, this story  resonates emotionally across culture, the infusion of the author’s own unique inner world revolutionized the genre to the delight of his audience, while dismaying the critics whose concern lay with tradition. 

Let us be submerged, weightless, in the depths of the subconscious flowing currents, to be set adrift in the ocean of imaginary realms.

I hear in the sea, stirring wildly, the deep

Supplication of the approaching waves, roaring;

And then the crack of the surf hitting the cliff,

Raising the foam up to the clouds -

I sink into comforting daydreams,

And my thoughts are released far,

Far way, towards my beloved homeland,

Studded with stars and forests.

So it's as though I'm sitting, like a child

My arms tightly wrapped around my sister,

During Sunday, at our limewood house -

Calm in my heart and golden peace.
