    Send us Fan Mail

George Blitch and Matthew Mitchell discuss their incredibly eventful trip to George's South Texas family ranch. Starting off the hunt, Matthew knocks down his first quail within the first 10 minutes of being on the ranch. Later that day, George gets a turkey and a very large boar, and then Matthew gets his first rabbit!

Colin Williams (Map My Ranch) joins the duo and now the Texas Trio embark on even more adventures, which include having a hunt interrupted by some folks cutting through the ranch on their way up from Mexico. Border Patrol gets called and they come out, and things take a bit of a weird turn.

The next day brought new fortune as George and Matthew both take their best bucks, ever!

In this episode, George Blitch sits down with Josh Smith, from Montana Knife Company, to discuss his career as one of the most sought after knife makers. Josh was the youngest ever to become a Master Bladesmith at only 19 years old and he built custom knives for well over a decade before launching Montana Knife Company, which has grown to be one of the most recognizable high end knife making companies around.

    ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"In the last two years, Montana Knife Company has been fortunate to grow beyond what I could have imagined, gaining recognition throughout the hunting community and the country.

As a result, you may think we're a huge company with dozens of employees running a complicated operation. In reality, we're just a small group of hunters and fishermen creating American-made tools that help us do what we love.

We design with hunting in mind, and we build reliable tools that last. We're passionate about making affordable, high-quality knives that serve the needs of real working people."

All year long, these three guys work diligently to maintain the operations of the ranch, and leave it looking as pristine as possible, so they can enjoy a weekend of hunting only. Who are we kidding? There is no such thing as a “hunt only” weekend. There is Always work to do, however, they got some good time out in the field and they….

Wait, you thought we’d give it all away in this description? C’mon man….you got to tune in to find out what went down. :)

In this episode, George Blitch also talks about a previous hunt where he took one of the largest melanistic white-tailed deer in the country. He dubbed the buck, "Black Beauty," and wrote an article about their history, which was featured in many hunting magazines and online articles, as well. • Ep. 12 - 5 Years Sober

    Send us Fan Mail

Today marks my 5th year of sobriety. I thought I'd share a little bit of my story, my struggles, and how I made it to this personal milestone.

I do not ever want to push the idea of sobriety on anyone. It was the right move for me, as I wanted to become a better husband, father, and friend - and I needed to put the drink on the shelf in order for me to become the best version of myself. Many people are able to find a balance in their lives, but I struggled to do that with alcohol.

For anyone that is having any issues with drinking or substance abuse, I highly encourage you to be honest with yourself and others, and seek out the help you need. It is a day at a time journey, but the rewards can be astronomical, and in some cases, it can save your life! Don't give up! If you want to win the battle over your addictions, you can! It takes work, courage, and discipline, but it is all possible! YOU can do it! Find the path, and take it one day at a time.

Thanks for listening, everyone. It means a great deal to me, and I am forever thankful for everyone's support, especially my incredible wife, Meg, our daughters, and all my family and friends!

  • Ep. 10 - Jeremiah Doughty w/ From Field To Plate

    Send us Fan Mail

In this episode, George Blitch and co-host Matthew Mitchell sit down with Jeremiah Doughty, who is best known for his company, "From Field To Plate"

Jeremiah is a wild game chef from Southern California, whose passion for the outdoors started at a very young age, but his love for it started many years later.

"In 2010 I found out I was allergic to bovine fats (BEEF) and other processed meats. This allergy forced my hand into living without store bought red meats, but I chose to take a stand against it and do my own research. Through my study of food, nutrition and allergies I found that large wild game did not hold the allergic trade within its meats. This realization brought me into the large mammal hunting world and I harvested my first antelope in 2011. I quickly found out that it was harder than I had thought, and taking my meat to the butcher was out of the question because they used beef fats in many of their machines. I struggled to find people to help me and shape me within the industry. I struggled to make the meat taste good along with trying to butcher and hunt. After understanding the basics of wild game meat, I quickly found myself as one of the guys people looked up to for simple & easy wild game recipes.

In 2016, I founded From Field To Plate as a tool for others to use and learn from. I did not have anyone there to help me when I first started in the outdoors and did not want anyone else to have that struggle. So I founded a blog with stories and recipes. In 2017, I started a hands on 4 day hunting, butchering & cooking school in South Texas. The classes have been mentioned in Outdoor life, NTWF, Mossy oak and other magazines. I have since taken over 350 new and veterans hunters into the field and kitchen.

I have evolved my business into a thriving social media outlet, passion projects, podcast, recipes and will soon be launching my first cookbook. My passion for the outdoors grows every day and cant wait to change the Hunting Industry with a fork and a knife."

  • Ep. 9 - Colin Williams (w/ Map My Ranch)

    Send us Fan Mail

In this Episode, George Blitch and co-host Matthew Mitchell sit down for a quick chat with Colin Williams, who is the co-owner of Map My Ranch (George is the other co-owner). Colin tells us a bit about how he begins working on a client's map, some options that he can include on their custom maps, and the diverse styles of maps that Map My Ranch creates: ranch and farm maps, real estate, commercial, lakes and rivers, public lands maps, vineyards, and many more!

    MAP MY RANCH
Map My Ranch designs, prints, and ships the highest quality maps available. We start by acquiring the latest aerial imagery for the area you want mapped. While the majority of our clients are here for farm and ranch maps, we also produce maps for public land hunts, realtors, vineyards, or even your favorite lake or river to fish on.

We can layer your map(s) with just the outline of your property (Boundary Map) or fully customize it (Custom Map) with various labels and icons (hunting stands, food plots, feeders, game trail cameras, pastures, fishing holes, traps, etc.)  We can also layer them with lat/long and topo lines, GPS points, or anything else you want highlighted. We can import your info from most GPS mapping/hunting apps, if you already have these marked. If not, that's all good...we've got an easy process we can walk you through.

After we acquire the best imagery available for your property, we develop a Draft Map for you to electronically review and finalize, before we print and ship your maps. We charge an initial Set Up Fee for our services and then you just pay for the cost of the prints. The initial Set Up Fee is 100% refundable if you are not happy with the imagery we have available.  We do not charge a set up fee for any reprints! Boundary Map Set Up Fees cover the design of all sized maps. The Custom Map Set Up Fee covers the design of one large map and one smaller map. Additional sized Custom Maps will require additional set up costs - email or call to determine overall costs.

We primarily provide two types of prints: WeatherProof (water and tear resistant, foldable) and Laminated (dry erase, magnet, and sticker friendly).

Our clients typically get a 36"x48" (Poster sized) print, and some of our smaller Field Maps (12x18", 18"x24", "24x36").  We can print much larger maps or customize them to your needs. Contact us for a price quote, if you have a particular size in mind.

Not sure what print sizes you want right now? No problem. Just pay the Set Up Fee and we will begin the Draft Map process. You can pay for prints after you approve the Draft Map on our Products page.

We also print Cooler Top Maps! When you buy a Bison Cooler from us, you'll get one printed for free! (if you are just purchasing a Cooler with a Cooler Map, a Set Up Fee is still required)
