You won’t want to miss this week’s softball super episode with former All-American, 2000 National Champion shortstop Kelli Braitsch! We talk about Kelli’s life and career at OU, and look forward to the upcoming Norman Regionals this weekend and potential Supers matchup for this season on the road to OKC!

Kelli was Born and raised in Broken Arrow, OK. Her parents both went to Oklahoma, so she is truly Sooner born and Sooner bred . Kelli Played golf, basketball, and softball at Broken Arrow High School, where she Won the first ever Gatorade player of the year for softball in Oklahoma. She Was recruited to play 2nd and SS for OU; Started her freshman year in right field and later moved to SS. She Won a the first women's national championship at OU in 2000, and Made the WCWS team 2000. She also Won player of the year for Big 12 in 2001 and Was an All-American in 2001.

You won’t want to miss the story about how she Broke her jaw in the WCWS 2002 in pregame warm-ups of 1st game, but she still Played in the 2nd game with a paintball mask (first mask worn on TV). Kelli Finish her career at OU in 2003, and Graduated with a degree in Criminology and Communication in 2004. She later Moved back to Tulsa in the summer of 2006 and started with the Tulsa Police Dept, where she Worked in many areas of the Tulsa Police for 16 years, until she Suffered a career ending TBI injured on-duty on 12-24-2019. She later medically retired in April 2022, and Now resides in Madrid (MAD-rid) NY on 12 acres with wife and fur kids.

Whitney is an experienced turfgrass managment professional with four years in the industry. Her diverse background includes work in parks and recreation, minor league baseball, and high-profile collegiate athletics. She has contributed to the maintenance of D1 softball fields, the Little League Softball World Series, and the Womens College World Series. Whitney is currently serving OU Athletics as an Assistant Turf Manager. She oversees grounds for John Jacobs Track and Field and Everest Training Center, while also assisting with OU football and softball. A proud alumna of Dickinson State University, she is passionate about providing top-tier playing surfaces for athletes at the highest collegiate level.

Whitney says: “I became a Sooner fan in the Keilani Ricketts era. She was the first Samoan softball player I absolutely adored and looked up to. Funny enough, during my last season of coaching at Dickinson State University we made a post season run and went to the opening round of the NAIA national tournament and played MACU. So to look up to her as a Polynesian athlete, and then to end my career with TWO WINS vs. Ricketts and Coach Jim Gasso was such a surreal moment for me. I've been a fan of OU softball EVER SINCE. My little cousin is Quincee Lili'o who was a 3x national champion at OU and is now at South Carolina and playing her best softball. I definitely have some family ties to the program and honestly, if you know softball you know OU softball.

My Fave sooner memory? Watching the last super regional hosted at Marita Hynes in 2022. I was able to see Jocelyn Alo's last homerun at Marita!”

Sarah grew up watching OU athletics, she is Sooner Born and Bred as her grandfather was an OU Ruf/Nek! As a coaches daughter, former college athlete and coachs spouse, Sarah has a burden and passion of teaching the Word of God to coaches and athletes. She surrendered her life to Jesus when she was 13 years at an FCA (Fellowship of Christian Athletes) camp in Colorado. Sarah is passionate about FCA because she’s a product of it.

She began working for FCA as a sports missionary in 2003 serving women and men of sport through speaking, Writing, team chapels/bible studies and building relationships. In the FCA ministry she has served in many roles including Women in Sports Director, NBA/NFL wives chaplain, Area Director and Area Rep. She is in her 20th season of serving the 8 time national Champions, University of Oklahoma softball team and her first with Team USA softball as chaplain. Sarah is the author of three devotion books for the athlete, coach and coach's spouse as well as, a contributing writer for FCA Curriculum and Sports Spectrum magazine. She has been married to a High School coach, Chris Roberts, since 1998. They have 5 kids, one daughter in law, and 2 grandkids. She enjoys reading, working out, and shoe shopping.

Being connected to the Vine of Christ, God has opened the doors to teach at some amazing venues including the Women’s College World Series, the Women’s Final Four, FCA camps, Clemson Football team, churches and various events and retreats. Her passion in teaching the Word of God is not only seeing the lost found but teaching how the found stay faithful.

I personally know Sarah and I met her through FCA about 13 years ago, and I know the fruits and work of her ministry well! It is truly an honor to host her on the show this week!

DJ was an All-American pitcher at OU from 2006-2009, and is also a Former Coach at the University of Kansas (Asst.), St. Gregory's University (HC), and Omaha (HC); she is a current PxP and Analyst for Soonersports Properties, ESPN, and SEC Network, and Current Analyst for Soonersports Radio for OU Softball with Chris Plank.

I got to meet DJ in person a few weeks ago at a game at Love’s Field, and she is so sweet! After txting with her for a couple of months, it was so nice to meet her and she’s just as sweet as I knew she would be!

We talk the current status of OU softball and look ahead to the rest of the season/post season possibilities, as well as reflecting on her time at OU! (You won’t want to miss her talking about her recruiting story with Coach Gasso!)

Reagan grew up in Ardmore, Oklahoma, and played basketball and golf. She became serious about golf when she was 11/ in the 7thgrade. Reagan won 3 team state championship at Plainview High School and one individual state championship. She started her collegiate golf career at Oklahoma City University, then transferred to Oklahoma her sophomore year.

Her favorite memories as a Sooner are traveling to tournaments and making memories with the team, and her fave sport to watch other than golf is basketball!

Mark has been the head coach at the University of Oklahoma since 2000; He initially came to OU in 1988 as an assistant coach after the Sooners were his main rival when he was a gymnast at Nebraska. Since then, he’s also been the Coach for Team USA at the 2006 and 2014 World Championships and 2016 Olympic Games.

He’s also been inducted as one of the members of the 2015 class of the USA Gymnastics Hall of Fame, just another testament to the outstanding coaching he has done with the national team and the OU men’s gymnastics squad.

His favorite sooner memory is Winning 9 National Championships as head coach, and another an assistant.
