We arrive at our discovery of entropy by way of striving to inscript reality and matter with the “epistemic objects” of science. This is done by attempting essentially to match predication and “performance statements” generated in the lab, onto and into reality itself. This comes via the statistical, probabilistic and strategic speaking and thinking that is the result of standardized writing essentially. The more the world turns towards “globish” or “universal English” the more we will find our selves reeling ever deeper in existential ennui. The standardiZed and standardiZed worldview of the unconscious technology of the representational model within the “merely” phonological exogrammic system we know as the alphabet has had extreme consequences. The calm of evening was upon the world as I emerged from the great hall, and the scene was lit by the warm glow of the setting sun. At first things were very confusing. A little way up the hill, for instance, was a great heap of granite, bound together by masses of aluminium, a vast labyrinth of precipitous walls and crumpled heaps, amidst which were thick heaps of very beautiful pagodalike plants—nettles possibly—but wonderfully tinted with brown about the leaves, and incapable of stinging. It was evidently the derelict remains of some vast structure, to what end built I could not determine. Encomium is a Latin word deriving from the Ancient Greek enkomion (ἐγκώμιον), meaning "the praise of a person or thing." Another Latin equivalent is laudatio, a speech in praise of someone or something.

Originally was the song sung by the chorus at the κῶμος, or festal procession, held at the great national games in honour of the victor, either on the day of his victory or on its anniversary. The word came afterwards to denote any song written in celebration of distinguished persons, and in later times any spoken or written panegyric whatever.

Encomium also refers to several distinct aspects of rhetoric:

• A general category of oratory

• A method within rhetorical pedagogy

• A figure of speech praising a person or thing, but occurring on a smaller scale than an entire speech

• The eighth exercise in the progymnasmata series

• A literary genre that included five elements: prologue, birth and upbringing, acts of the person's life, comparisons used to praise the subject, and an epilogue [citation needed]

• The basilikos logos (imperial encomium), a formal genre in the Byzantine empire

I only tell the two stories above – about the flying and the robbery – to be as honest as possible, and say that although you will be genuinely shielded, you won’t be invincible. You must still take care and look after yourself.

I have often used spells to remain ‘invisible’ in dangerous areas, because I enjoy passing through such places – but I also know that it’s important to keep a low profile. When passing through those areas I don’t attract attention to myself. You need to contribute to the magick. If your home is under threat from thieves, get good locks as well as good magick.

This might sound outrageously obvious, but many people think that magick will be so powerful they can do whatever they want and remain protected. A young man I knew used a protection ritual to avoid violence, and went out on a drunken night and thought he could verbally abuse anybody he wanted. He found out how wrong he was. Mind you, when he was punched, he did manage to keep his teeth intact – so perhaps the magick helped after all. The point here is that protection magick is meant to keep you safe, not to make you a superhero.
