  • Relationships Gone Right, part 5: Embrace and Enjoy Conflict

We struggle in relationships when we take things personally, have unconscious expectations of others, avoid conflict, hide our desires (from ourselves and/or our partner), close our hearts, beat ourselves up, and behave in other innocently stupid ways.

We thrive in relationships when we don’t take things personally, create agreements, embrace and enjoy conflict, openly share our desires, maintain a foundation of goodwill, celebrate mistakes, and, most importantly, have insights about the nature of human experiences in the context of relationships.

Because insight is what enables us to ‘move higher up the ladder of consciousness’ to a vantage point where things look and feel different.

When things look and feel different, we do different.

  • Magic vs. Magical Thinking ft. Michael McDonald

The essence is: There's a feeling to each of these.

When someone is in magical thinking, it feels kinda off. It's like the "loose thread" feeling. Magical thinking is rooted in control (ie: "I'm going to do x, y, z so that I can manifest what I want"). And there's a lack of connection to wisdom, more noise in head, and often a lack of time and attention given to the thing that's wanting to be created.

Whereas magic is about hanging out in a quiet mind and giving something time and attention from higher up the ladder of consciousness. It's about staying open and receptive. You are following wisdom, taking action, or trusting when it says to not take action. You're not attached to results. You're rooted in sanity: that the results don't matter and are not going to make you feel better/different. And then, when cool shit happens, you're grateful it happened. But you don't think your ego controlled it into existence.

Magical thinking is rooted in fear and misunderstanding.

Magic is rooted in receptivity and sanity.

  • On the Nature of Trauma ft. Michael McDonald

Join us for a potentially mind-bending (and/or triggering, ego-dissolving) conversation where we explore both the wisdom of the trauma-informed paradigm and some of the innocent blindspots of that perspective. Being trauma-informed can really help. And, it can keep you really stuck. In this conversation, we explore distinctions that help us and our clients get unstuck and live more easeful, amazing, sane lives.
