Kujichagualia translates to self-determination, highlighting the importance of knowing ourselves fully. 2025 has challenged us to be active players in our lives and the world around us. Are you clear or indecisive, seeking Justice or straddling the fence, unhappy and unsettled, or secure and healing? This year forced us to reckon with the truth. Whether we're ready for it or not. SOUL Vibrant is Officially Back since I took time to focus on my health. It's bizarre how quickly "My Body, My Choice", "A woman's right to choose", and other various pro-choice attitudes change when the choices go against societal "comforts". Or when the individual reclaiming their right of choice is deemed unworthy, undesirable, or unfit to make such noise. 47 % of physicians underestimate Black patients' pain levels. Black Women face a 3x higher mortality rate compared to other races, and 40% of providers have negative attitudes about patients with higher weight [Fat] bodies. I sit at the intersection of all 3 identities. I'm a statistic, Tune in, as I vulnerably reveal my journey navigating the healthcare system and the Choices I had to make to reclaim my Voice, Body, and Life.

In Season 1, I uncovered my ancestry and the history of Mack Miller Park. Although I share my journey of discovery, I never talked about the powerful spiritual experience of creating the episode. For week 3 of Hoodoo Heritage Month, (With her permission) let me introduce you to Mama "EYE". Originally from New Orleans, Mama "Eye" was sold to a plantation in Georgia, where she spent her entire life rebelling and fighting for Black liberation. Coming from a strong line of voodoo women, she used her gifts for healing, guidance, and empowerment. Her essence illustrated how often people confuse hoodoo for voodoo or vice versa. Using the confusion to her advantage, check out how Mama "Eye" taught me to see hoodoo as an alchemy to Never downplay my gifts or my importance. It's week 2 of Hoodoo Heritage Month as I continue to highlight an ancestor that connects me to the practice. "With their permission" I share their stories and the greatest lessons they taught me. For today's episode, I introduce you to one of my ancestral fathers, John Henry. Born into slavery, John is a master of iron and has the heart of a leader. He single-handedly challenged the perceptions and/or stereotypes about black men, connections to their emotions, and the ability to love. I'M BACK and SOUL Vibrant in full effect in a new month with new magic! Black Girl Magic, I should say, as October is a month of high spiritual energy. October is known as Hoodoo Heritage Month. Coined by Mama Rue, Hoodoos celebrate throughout the month with several events uplifting different practices.
