In today's conversation I had the opportunity to sit down with Kameron Kelsey, owner of the 9 Quarter Circle Ranch in Gallatin Gateway, MT.   He's a 3rd generation dude ranch owner and has more connection to history and land than a lot of us.  The joy and satisfaction he gets from deriving his and his family's livelihood from the land is contagious and can teach us the importance of connecting with the natural world around us.  He's got some great stories about the history of such a gorgeous location, the guests and how he, as the 3rd generation owner is weaving his own story through the ranch and stamping his mark on the history of it.  Enjoy!

Today's guest is Mike French.  I've know Mike for a number of years and I think under his layers of being a former educational executive, a craftsman, and pretty good musician he's got a bit of philosopher hidden.  Mike has jumped off the hamster wheel and has become so much more than a maker.  From intentionally seeking simplicity to calling out the busyness in our lives, Mike shares his own struggles and triumphs and continued pursuit of writing his own story.   This isn't touchy feely couch talk but rather Mike gives examples from his own life on how he continually strives to be intentional on the choices he's making in his story.

This Episode might offend some parents and that's good, because I believe in our duty to help our kids and the next generation collectively, write a great story of their own.  Somewhere between the Greatest Generation and ours we've gotten to a point where over protection has gotten so bad with our kids we needed a new term just to counter it.  Free range kids as they're now called, used to be just "kids".  Unfortunately, all the overprotective parents have forced a whole class of kids to be reclassified when they all used to be called ...just kids.  Tune in to find out how this new breed of parenting can have the same effects on our kids' stories as NEGLECTFUL parents do.

Did you ever draw stick figures as a kid?  Ever paint with your fingers?  Ever play dress up or cops and robbers?  Thought you were the next Pablo Picasso?  When was the last time you did something creative?  I know lots of questions, but really essential questions to writing a COMPLETE story.  Don't believe you aren't creative, that's a line of bullshit that's been fed to you.  In today's Monday Nugget take a few minutes to understand how reconnecting with your creative side will bring out a more colorful story in your life!

Don't let the sharp tie and fancy suit full you, Michael's as tough as they come and humble too.   When Michael's not running his company, he's out doing full Ironmans, running multiple marathons and learning guitar with kids.  Yes, he might have the markings of career success, but when sitting down with him you quickly understand he has passion for making his brief time here a worthwhile story.  He'll teach us about the ways he's overcome his fears and things he does so his story and adventure doesn't stop with empty chapters at the end.

Oh and take a little pity on him, he's a Vol, so he's also had to endure some pain that's out of his control.
