Hello and welcome to another exciting episode of the Dance Studio Amplified Podcast!
In this episode, I’m sharing some advice with you based on my own experiences. Sometimes all the business ideas come flooding in and it can be overwhelming when you are wanting to act, implement, and incorporate all the ideas in your head.
It first starts when you are watching what other studio owners are doing and comparing yourself to them. The overwhelming feeling can also creep up when the experts and mentors talk about the ins and outs of growing their businesses and all of the must-do strategies they recommend. You hear compelling statements saying, “you need to do this, you need to do that in order to get to the next level.” When you are working alone or have a small team, keeping up with these many tasks can be overwhelming.
In this episode, I talk about why it’s important to get out of the mindset that you need to be adding more and more. Take those business ideas and store them for later. Don’t completely ignore the ideas, start thinking about how you will strategize and implement them before you do. Make sure you have both the time and team to start a new project!

In this episode, I'm gonna share with you the pros and cons of adding a music program to your dance studio and the lessons I’ve learned from my own experiences.
I will share with you the benefits of music lessons including: utilizing space you don’t already use to generate income, the low investment required to start a music program, raising retention for your dance students who might lose interest in dance but want to give music lessons a try, and the care-free planning that goes into music recitals. We will also talk about some of the challenges: make-up policies for both teachers and students, the patience and time it requires for your music lessons program to build, and the lower profit margin private lessons bring into your studio (small hint, group music lessons might be the way to go for a bigger profit).

December 10, 2019 Andrea Trench and Incorporating a Conceptual Approach to Children's Programming
Hello and welcome to another episode of the Dance Studio Amplified podcast! I’m super duper excited for today’s episode because Andrea Trench is going to join us as she shares her tips, tricks, and resources for dance teachers who teach young children. For those of you who don't know Andrea Trench; Andrea is a dance educator, specializing in early childhood dance education and modern dance. She was the creator and founder of DiscoverDance, LLC.
“I am dedicated to teaching teaching a developing child…” At minute 06:42, Andrea shared with me her unique perspective in teaching children especially younger ones. She talked about empowering other dance educators and parents and helping them the importance of dance to their children’s lives. She also talked a little bit about the importance of recognizing our student’s needs for us, dance educators and also their parents, to be able to help our children build the foundational skills that they need as they grow older.
“You’re not too busy, it’s a choice...” At 21:11, Andrea talked about how she sets her priorities and she admits that having a life-work balance is really impossible for her, so she made sure that she schedule everything accordingly.
“Life is tough, but never ever give up...” At minute 30:15, Andrea shared with me how her dad made the biggest impact to her life. How he taught her life lessons that helped her build the foundation of her life as she got older that helped her be able to open and run her own business and eventually started a family of her own.
Andrea talked and shared a lot of valuable information about how she helps dance educators how to incorporate a conceptual approach to children's programming. She also talked about a lot of helpful tips to our fellow dance educators and parents, so make sure to stay tuned!
