My son is reaching the age I was when my mom died… and recently I realized I’ve now lived more of my life without her than with her.
That realization brought me back to a moment from childhood—one that didn’t seem significant at the time, but now feels like everything.
In this episode, I share two nights:
- one where my mom stayed up watching over me after a concussion
- and one where I sat in that same chair, doing the same for my son
Somewhere in the middle of that night, it clicked…
We don’t just learn how to live from the people who raise us.
We learn how to love.
And sometimes, we don’t even realize what we’ve been given… until we become the one giving it.
In this episode, we explore:
- How caregiving is learned through experience, not instruction
- The quiet ways love is modeled and carried forward
- What it feels like to step into the same role your parent once held
- How the people we’ve lost continue to live through us
Caregiving isn’t taught… it’s modeled.
And the love we were given often shows up in how we love others.
What is something you do today…
that you learned not because you were told…
but because you felt it first?
If this episode resonated with you, I’d love for you to share it or send it to someone who might need it.
