Brian Sanders is a filmmaker, health educator and the creator of the Food Lies docuseries who, after watching both of his parents suffer from chronic disease, spent years asking what the human body actually needs, and who now hosts the Peak Human podcast, owns the regenerative meat company Nose to Tail and runs the Sapien Center in Austin.
Brian Sanders believes nobody wants to overeat, and yet almost everyone does, because we have been taught to count the wrong thing. In this conversation, we explore the family that actually followed the food pyramid, why feeling crappy at 30 is not normal, the hunter-gatherers who could not understand a question about back pain, who really funds nutrition research, the difference between nutrient calories and energy calories, and how to let your body talk to you. The answer to weight was never eating less of the same food. It is getting every nutrient your body needs for less energy.
