Sound Matters with Tom Leu

Jen Elizabeth is an author and recovery advocate. But more fittingly perhaps after talking with her at length, Jen is a recovery warrior. She has ended her silence about surviving a multitude of childhood traumas, sexual abuse, drug addiction, jail, and eating disorders... and outlines it all in her first book, "Shape of a Woman." Today Jen is a wife and a mother to two incredible children. She is a writer, and recognized speaker on all things recovery. She has healed her life and inspires anyone who crosses her path to do the same. Jen is terrific, and this episode is one of my favorites!

“OMG!!! Tom is AMAZING! I have been on a lot of podcasts, especially with my new book. And I have to say, that Recovery Collective is by far the most organized yet free-flowing podcast I have ever been on! Tom is so easy to talk with. And he periodically reminds the listeners who he is interviewing; which I love! There was no down time or moments of uncomfortable nothingness. He was prepared to pack a powerful punch of a message from the beginning to the end! I’d be honored to be on his show anytime!”

Tom’s easy going personable style puts you at ease, you feel like you’re talking to an old friend. I’d recommend Tom’s show to any and all artists if you want to do an interview with someone who doesn’t ask the same old questions and does his homework.”

"Radio Show, Ready of Not"... How the hell did I go from working as a DJ on a country music radio station, to getting my own rock 'n roll-type talk radio show on the air in just a few months, and what's to learn from that (i.e. why should you care...)?

Through my writings and stories from the world's of rock & roll and recovery, I shiFt the conversation by calling out careless and complacent communication, bad behavior, and poisonous pop culture psychology. Tony gets very personal with me during this in-depth conversation sharing both his struggles as well as his solutions for living a sober life today. His candidness and willingness to go deep on this all-important subject of recovery is refreshing and necessary.

Mark Kendall is the lead guitarist from the multiplatinum band Great White. His passion and natural abilities got him hooked on guitar at a young age. Mark is a solid supporter of MusiCares, and a big-time recovery advocate. Mark’s relentless efforts to help those seeking a sober life have been expressed in feature stories on Fox News and numerous national radio programs and podcasts. With his rock pedigree, and double digit years of sobriety, I knew Mark and I had to talk at length about two of my favorite subjects: rock and roll and recovery. Mark’s passion for both is evident in this in-depth and honest conversation.

“It was great to be on Tom Leu’s podcasts! Tom does his homework and preparation which made it a great experience to be on the show! When a journalist or host in this case does their research, it makes the show interesting and flow well. Tom is a complete professional in that regard! I’m a huge fan of getting the word out on recovery in which Tom’s podcast does a wonderful job!!”
