BABYBOYBLUE (also known as Liam Reyes) is a Filipino-American Music Producer/Artist. Starting from producing for friends in high school and following his desire to learn more about audio engineering in college, he soon became disillusions with that college as an institution and decided to pursue his career through a path that didn't include getting a degree.

Liam has produced, engineered, mixed and mastered music for artists all across the world ranging from many different genres such as Indie Pop, Hip-hop, Rock/Punk and Electronic. On episode 55 of Sounds Like NYC, we got the chance to chat with Brooklyn based indie rock artist Abbie Roper.

While going to college for business, Abbie attended a music program her school offered in Nashville for a semester.

This artist bootcamp made her realize her potential as a musician.

Primarily an acoustic guitarist, this program pushed her out of her comfort zone as a musician and found her sound with some more rock inspired music.

In the last year, Abbie has performed in many venues in the city including Rockwood Music Hall, The Delancey, The Bitter End and Pianos.

Using her Christian background and experience with God as inspirations for her music, she describes making her music as a spiritual experience.

On this episode of Sounds Like NYC, we sat down with New York City based singer and modern composer Stallion Dunquis. 

His recording output thus far showcases a handful of genres including R&B/soul, hip-hop, Latin, indie, garage rock, and folk.

Stallion has had a lot of experience collaborating with other musicians, both in the city and overseas. With photographer wife Estefanía, Stallion knows what it's like to balance art with a partner. 

NYC has made Stallion Dunquis be more practical with his art, which is quite the endeavor in itself. As many artists do, he himself struggles with perfectionism as a musician but has had to move past that as he's gone from playing with a full band to solo musician. 

Stallion debuted his song "Freeling" alongside a cover of "Fly Me to the Moon" at a Sofar Sounds NYC live performance. Stallion lists Jean-Michel Basquiat as a main influence on his attitude towards music. 

Previously, Stallion's poetry has been published in multiple literary journals in the U.S. and U.K., including The Wire's Dream Magazine, Porridge Magazine, Punch Drunk Press, and BlazeVOX Journal.
