This is the podcast of the South Bay Church, Los Angeles. We’re a vibrant, growing church community of families, single adults, and teens from all over the South Bay area --all ages, races, and backgrounds. The clash between the teachings of Jesus and the religious establishment of his day really comes to a head in these chapters of Matthew. Why does Jesus seem angry? Why does he curse a fig tree? Why does he cause an uproar in the temple courts? It has to do with what the temple was always meant to be, a “house of prayer for all nations.” For us today, we get a glimpse of what Jesus wants the church to be in our time.

Jesus and his kingdom fulfill God’s plans to rescue the world but in a way that totally upset the expectations of his time. And even for us today achieving victory in life comes in a way that is counterintuitive and yet has the potential to change both our daily experiences and the world around us.
