Pete Buttigieg was recently the subject of a Politico profile titled 'The President of Nowhere, USA.' The profile's primary focus was Pete's uncertain political path beyond the Mayor's office, but that point was surrounded by a host of interesting comments about Pete and our city, South Bend.Nora McGreevy and Micaela Powers are both Notre Dame students who grew up in South Bend. Nora recently wrote an article about me in The Observer titled 'Scene in South Bend: Jacob Titus is on The Move.' Our conversation hovers around these two articles. Both Nora and Micaela raised points (regarding the article about Pete) that I had not considered, specifically about the article's creation of a Pete v. South Bend narrative.

We talk about representation and how reporters can increase cultural awareness in a city they may not have grown up in. If you've listened to any past conversations on the local media, this adds a ton of perspective to round out the dialogue.
