  • FAMILY MONTH - Week 2

    We are talking about ...Relationships.

    Specifically ...“What makes relationships work?

Why do we seem to click with & feel cared for by certain people, while others give us the impression we’re insignificant, invisible, or in-the-way?

How is it some families can hardly stomach one another, but others seem so close?

Is it all an act, or do they know something we don’t?

Well, as it turns out, both scripture & science agree on the answer.

And the good news is—all the research suggests certain practices

have the power to turn a bad thing around, and make a good thing

    even better.

So, what are these practices & how do we apply them?

Well, we’re gonna talk about that and more in this series.

  • QUIT CHURCH: Week 5

We are a church for the unchurched. We work really hard to be the kind of place where people who maybe don’t believe in God, are wrestling with faith, or were wounded by religion can come and feel welcomed and embraced and find common ground. Some of you in this room fit that exact category. And we are so glad you’re here. And there will be some benefit to you in this series. But I want you to know, you are off the hook. This series is not really about you.

Over the next several weeks, we are going to be talking about what it takes to lean in and create the kind of environment that we’re striving to have here at South Hills, and how doing so will make your life and relationship with God better.

This series is for those of you who have been here more than a few times; who have committed your lives to Christ; and who would, in some way, consider this to be your church. These next few weeks are for you and about you... so don’t you dare miss not one week, but I want to warn you, from the very start... this content will call you to mature.

  • QUIT CHURCH: Week 1- Just Quit!

Before you listen to this series, I want to say, that we are a church for the unchurched. We work really hard to be the kind of place where people who maybe don’t believe in God, are wrestling with faith, or were wounded by religion can come and feel welcomed and embraced and find common ground. Some of you listening fit that exact category. And we are so glad you’re here. And there will be some benefit to you in this series. But I want you to know, you are off the hook. This series is not really about you. In fact, this is the churchiest thing we will do all year. We are going to spend the next 5 weeks talking about what it takes to lean in and create the kind of environment that feels like that all year long, and how doing so will make your life and relationship with God better. This series is for those of you who have been going to church more than a few times; who have committed your lives to Christ; and who would, in some way, consider themselves having a home church.. These next 5 weeks are for and about you and I want you to be here for every single one, but I want to warn you at the outset, from the very start... this content will call you to maturity.

  • SEV7N: WEEK 8: GLUTTONY (Pastor Chris Sonksen)

So here’s what we have been talking about…

The fact that we always seem to get caught on certain stumbling blocks in our lives that cause us to trip and fall and put distance between the best life that God has for us and how we are living it today.

History has nicknamed these stumbling blocks or tendencies the “Seven Deadly Sins”.

So we have been going through these seven sins in hopes of finding out where do they come from? Why do they trip us up?

And what can we do about it?

Because as Jesus followers...as Christians, we should be striving to live a sinless life. Keyword being trying.

You see the more we grow and mature in our relationship with Jesus, the less we should be sinning.

And when we understand the characteristics of these sins these vices, why we fall to them and how we can fight them back...the evidence will rise to the top in our lives.

We’ve talked about Pride, Envy, Wrath, Sloth, Greed, Lust and …today’s deadly sin is…
