"Dances with Smurfs" served as a parody of the political commentary style of Glenn Beck, a nationally syndicated radio show host and former Fox News Channel pundit. The episode also satirized the 2009 James Cameron film Avatar, suggesting the plot of that film borrows heavily from the 1990 film Dances with Wolves, and comparing Avatar's blue aliens to the cartoon Smurfs. It also included references to the Tea Party protests, radio personality Casey Kasem, and former-vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin. The episode received generally positive reviews. According to Nielsen ratings, "Dances with Smurfs" was seen by 1.47 million households among viewers aged between 18 and 34.

"Sarcastaball" is the eighth episode of the sixteenth season of the American animated television series South Park, and the 231st episode of the series overall. It premiered on Comedy Central in the United States on September 26, 2012, and is rated TV-MA L. In the episode, Randy Marsh, concerned over drastic changes to elementary school football, inadvertently creates a new version of the game after uttering a sarcastic public remark, quickly becoming the nation's most popular sport. As a result, Butters Stotch becomes a star athlete in the pastime, while Randy finds that he has lost the ability to speak without sarcasm.

"Guitar Queer-O" is the thirteenth episode of the eleventh season and the 166th overall episode of the American animated television series South Park, which first aired on Comedy Central on November 7, 2007. The episode was rated TV-MA L in the United States. The episode parodies the Guitar Hero video game and aired ten days after the release of Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock.

In the episode, Stan and Kyle are hooked on Guitar Hero, but Stan's superior skills in the video game damage his friendship with Kyle.

Stan helps a group of woodland critters by killing a mountain lion, only to discover that he's helping them give birth to the Antichrist.

Jimmy comes up with the perfect joke, but Cartman wants to take half the credit for it. However, Kanye West doesn't get the joke and vows revenge on the person who came up with it. 

Stan refuses to vote in the school mascot election because his choices are a giant douche and a turd sandwich. Unfortunately, his views on voting are seen as un-American, and he is ultimately banished from the town. 

The plot in which the students have to vote between choosing douche and a turd as their new school mascot, and Stan's apathy to voting in that particular election is an allusion to the 2004 Presidential Election between George W. Bush and John Kerry. It satirizes the apathy of many voters who felt that both candidates were equally bad choices for the President for different reasons.

When the boys trick a man at the local fair into letting them purchase weapons, they end up with more than they bargained for when Kenny accidentally stabs Butters in the eye. They must figure out a way to get Butters medical assistance without telling their parents.
