  • Called To A New Season

Bottom line: A new season in life and ministry requires faith to follow God's leading.

This message is the kick off message to the "Reset" Series. God is calling our church into a new season in which we will be challenged to relinquish our wills to help our church fish for men and shepherd God's sheep.
In this message we learn from Abraham's calling some principles we can apply in our lives and ministries with regards to God calling us to a new season of ministry.

  • Be Encouraged

Bottom line: I am encouraged when I choose to focus on God's presence, believe in God's promises, and trust in his plans for my life.

Discouragement is one of the most potent tools of the enemy in our lives. Satan will use discouragement to beat our faith down, to separate us from truth, and to destroy us and what is important to us. Discouragement can drive us from faith, from God, from God’s people, church, dreams, hopes, etc. Discouragement can be very dangerous. We all need to be encouraged from time to time because we all can get discouraged from time to time..
In Genesis 15 we sense that Abraham is a bit discouraged. God tells him “Do not fear.” Abraham is concerned over the fact that ten years after being promised a son he hasn’t received the promised son yet. He is now 85 years old. Ten years have passed since he left Haran and moved into Canaan.
Abraham is in need of some reassurance and encouragement, and God gives him just that. The things that we learn in this passage of Scripture are things we can apply in our lives when we find ourselves in need of encouragement, reassurance, uplifting, etc.

  • The Hope Of The World

Bottom line: The hope of the world is reconciliation and peace with God through the finished work of Jesus Christ.

Jesus Christ is the mediator of hope. Our hope is not in a nation, a political party, a president, government leaders, or a country, not even America. Our hope is not simply for this world or lifetime. Our hope is found in Jesus. The means of that hope is our faith in His finished work on the cross of Calvary. And the manifestation of that hope (i.e. its ultimate fulfillment) is yet to come. Like Abraham, our hope lies in promises that will be fulfilled.

  • A Father Of Faith

Bottom line: A father of faith journeys with God.

God calls a father to journey in faith for salvation, separation, and impartation. A Christian father has been called to be saved by the lamb that taketh away the sin of the world, to be separated from the world and unto God, and to impart blessings to his children and home. We see this reality in the calling of Abraham to answer God's call on his life, a call to journey with God, to be a father, to impart a blessing, etc.

  • The Growing Faith Of A Father

Bottom line: Jesus grows our faith to believe in Him beyond the limitation of what we believe about Him.

Jesus helps the faith of the father (the Nobleman) grow. The father had a limited belief in what Jesus could DO. Jesus helped to grow his faith to believe in WHO Jesus is. The object of the father's faith grew in value and power and by default the faith of the father grew in value and power too. He removed the limitation of the DO of Jesus to believe in the WHO of Jesus.
