March Theme: The Breastplate of Righteousness

Text: Matthew 5:43-48; 1 Cor. 7:1; Col.2:10

The Focus: Jesus gives a command in Mat.5:48 "Therefore you be perfect, as your Father in heaven is perfect". Is Jesus calling us to flawlessness or sinlessness? If He was, then He is commanding us to do something impossible. This is not an excuse or justification to sin or continue in sin, but we also trust and believe God is just and righteous. Therefore God would not give us a command that would be impossible to obey, so what is it that Jesus is calling us to?

March Theme: Breastplate of Righteousness

Text: Numbers 22-25, 31.

Focus: In the context of Numbers 22-25 God has given us two examples of people who knew God and knew His word, yet these acted very differently. One knew the Lord, spoke the words of the Lord and yet was guarded by greed. The other knew the Lord and acted decisively according to God's word. One is an example of Theoretical Righteousness (a righteousness that is not lived), and one is an example of Practical Righteousness (righteousness truly guarded and guided every thought, word and action). Which do we resemble most?

The Focus: Looking to what a pure heart and a heart guarded by righteousness looks like as demonstrated within relationships. How can we pursue purity in our relationships?
