Sergeant Barksdale was a member of Battery B, 503rd Field Artillery Battalion, and 2nd Infantry Division. He was listed as Missing in Action while fighting the enemy near Kunu-ri, North Korea on December 1, 1950. He was presumed dead on December 31, 1953.

Army PFC. Adam C. Ross, 19, of Lyman, SC was killed in Afghanistan, July 24, 2012.  The Department of Defense issued a statement Wednesday saying Ross was killed Tuesday in Wardak province, “of wounds suffered when he encountered small arms fire.”

He and fellow band members Representatives Thaddeus McCotter, Colin Peterson, Kenny Hulshof and John Porter entertained troops in Iraq and Afghanistan in 2005.

They were assigned to the 6th Engineer Support Battalion, 4th Force Service Support Group, Marine Corps Reserve, Folsom, Pa. All three were killed June 29, 2004 when a roadside bomb exploded next to his Humvee as they were traveling southeast of Baghdad.
