In Matthew 10:16-42, we see the expectation of discipleship is the world at war with those worthy of Christ.

Jesus came to the earth to reach people, and he now calls us as his followers to join him in this mission.

Through the life of Jesus we learn who God is, and a lot of what we find is surprising and unexpected. Nothing is more astonishing than the fact that Jesus came to the earth for sinners, whom he calls to put their faith in him.

A true faith in Jesus wholeheartedly follows him above everything else, which is the only path that makes sense because of who Jesus is.

When Jesus heals three unlikely recipients, he demonstrates his power and his love, giving us a foretaste of what is to come.

As Jesus wraps us his Sermon on the Mount, he leaves us with some strong warnings. He wants to make sure we know we will face God's judgment and live forever, which is why it is essential that we place our faith in him.

When we have received the goodness of God, we can then give this goodness away to others. Jesus' grace and self-sacrificial love are the ethic of his kingdom.

Money is only money. It cannot compare with the satisfaction that we find in Jesus. But unless we rightly treasure God and trust him as our heavenly Father, it will negatively dominate our lives and hearts.

In Matthew 6, we see the promise of great rewards and the hearts which seek to rob us of them. The reward Jesus holds out for the righteous is the reward of God himself.
