On this episode I review all the highlights of 2019 for the Sox & Sandals pod. I highlight many episodes, starting with episode 85 with my wife. In the conversation we discussed the good, the bad, and the ugly in our 7 years of marriage. I also highlight Episode 96 with my guy Torrey Dooley aka Mad Hadda The Hood Nurse, ep 103 (Egyptology) with Kara Cooney, the Nikki Giovanni & James Baldwin 1971 conversation episodes, etc... It's been a year full of such good content and conversations. When I'm looking back at everything I'm thoroughly impressed. I rarely take time to bask in the ambiance of my work, but I'm I took a break to stop and smell the roses.

On this episode I share my vision for 2020. I discuss my life philosophy and how that will inform my content moving forward. We're talking ownership, entrepreneur, higher vibrations, knowledge, power, justice, correctness, love, empathy, true reality, authenticity, etc... Be inspired, be enlightened, be empowered!!!

Bonus Episode! This week I share an excerpt of an interview I did with Luel Fantroy of the Mindset Over Method Podcast, discussing my entrepreneurial journey. Also, the first half of this episode consists of me sharing a recent unforeseen twitter exchange I had with Pastor Eric Mason of Epiphany Fellowship. Our exchange stemmed from a clip of a Dame Dash interview he posted and was critical of. Dame was spoke on alternate creation stories, Sumerian mythology, Dead Sea scrolls, the "slaves obey your masters" verse in the Bible, etc... Be empowered, be inspired, be enlightened!

On this episode I introduce my son to Malcolm X. We listen and react to roughly 10 minutes of a 1960 interview of Malcolm being asked about the mission of the Nation of Islam and to respond to the accusations of being anti-white, anti-semitic and a type of black KKK/Black Supremacist organization… When discussing the definition/role of the KKK in America we touch on the role of Christianity in their organization, and Elijah makes assessments of Christianity based upon this revelation and combines it with what he has learned in church for the last 10 years (he’s 10 years old)… Be enlightened, be inspired, be empowered!

Hue Knows: Malcolm X 1960 Interview pt. 1 Trailer

White folks will lynch ANYTHING! Cognitive dissonance is real and this story is a 100 year progression and very clear example of how white guilt operates on a daily basis... This audio that we review is short narrated documentary of a true historical event that happened in 1916 in Erwin, TN. An Elephant was lynched for publicly trampling and killing her abusive trainer.

On this episode I chat with Oba about his 1st trip to AfroTech in Oakland, CA. Before we even got to his trip to AfroTech we discussed parent child relationships and answered the question of, are parents entitled to receive love and respect from their children? However, about 33 minutes into the episode we get into the conference and Oba gives constructive criticism for the lack of technical workshops available. We discuss the Jay-Z 4:44 bars he aimed at AfroTech... The Shade Room Founder was spoke at the conference and we had a big debate about the value their business model holds among the black community.

On this bonus episode my guy Mondo and I discuss the Myles Garrett/Mason Rudolph fight aka 'Helmet Gate' and the Colin Kaepernick recent mid-season workout that was proposed by the NFL to have him showcase his talent. It has been said that this was Jay-Zs' idea, and now Jay is extremely frustrated at how Colin turned it into a media circus.

On this episode we review an interview of Malcolm X that happened at UC Berkeley in 1963. In this latter half of the conversation Malcolm addresses issue around black so-called “leaders,” that white society approves of. They are typically politically funded by white liberals or are simply celebrities that are friendly with white society and white media. Malcolm breaks down the reason that the Nation of Islam’s message was being so widely embraced among black folks on a grassroots level. Also my cousin Krysten just happened to call in (7:19) and share a story with me that's mad relevant to the topic at hand... Be enlightened, be inspired, be empowered!
