Time circuits set to 3 seconds in the future!

I got this AEG time relay from my friend and decided to show its interesting build and principle of operation. It uses a 150V voltage regulator (probably 0A2) and an unknown type thyratron (may be 5823), and interesting latching circuit on the main relay.

A thyratron is a gas-filled triggered tube which starts conducting after applying voltage to its ignition pin, and will keep concucting until the plate voltage drops below a certain threshold, in practice until power is disconnected. It's a glass-and-metal cousin of a SCR (semi-conductor relay) a.k.a. thyristor. Even the name is related.

While the hybrid bridge rectifier has been around, same for switchable full wave (not full bridge) rectifier like you see on the Messy Booger DR, my switchable hybrid bridge may be a new idea, with a cap bleeding circuit, and the circuit is also protected against excessive load on the rectifier tube.

Another video on the DRX85, this time it's fully reverse-engineered. It took me two weeks to track every trace and component on the pretty complicated board, all done with no computer assist, taking notes on paper and drawing the schematics. Double-checking any WTF while also learning about the inner workings of analog-to-digital and digital-to-analog conversion. And all this insanity was built in 1986 - the same year Challenger crashed, Chernobyl blew up and I was born!
