I let many of them sink and it's one of the best decisions I made. I do not care anymore and it's so freeing.

In 2024 the display light of my Roland D-550 rack synth suddenly went out. The CR2032 battery was due for replacement as well.
So I found only two proven offers and chose the easy way by ordering from the German dealer "synth-parts.com". The other source would have been "Super Synth Projects" in the UK. They also provide great instructions on the replacement that helped me: https://supersynthprojects.com/synth-display-upgrades/roland-d50-oled-display/
Opening the case of my D-550 was easy, but I ran into a major problem with the screws holding the front panel in place. They were locked super tightly closed and made of soft metal, so I literally screwed them up. For the first time ever I had to try to drill out screws. Fortunately I managed to do it without damaging the synthesizer.
The replacement of the display was a rather easy job as no soldering was needed. The display board came ready with a new data cable and plug and the boards dimensions fit well into the machine. The OLED display does not need the extra power for backlight so this old cable gets removed completely.
As a first test after the repair I played something improvised that you can hear as soundtrack to the video.
I hope my video helps anyone interested in exchanging their display.

Taking my solar charging trailer for groceries with my ebike.
I have a solar bike trailer that I use as a charging station. It has a 200W Allpowers 36V solar panel and an Elejoy boost charge controller. In good sun it puts out over 3 amps to charge my 48V, 20 aH bike battery, which is about the same as my 120V plug in charger does. If you angle it toward the sun you can get 25% to 50% more power than a flat top configuration. I can pull the trailer behind the ebike, but I don’t do that much because it is more fun to ride without a trailer. I would estimate that the 200W solar panel would add 25 miles to a daily ride. My battery does 25 miles, so it could have a 50 mile range in a day, but then you would have an empty battery and would have to charge it the next day. That is with zero pedaling, any pedaling energy would be added to that range. When my bike is charged up, I connect the solar panel to a microinverter (balcony power) and it adds power to my 120VAC house system on the grid, to reduce my electric bill.
Je teste un nouveau doigté de fa, c'est un tout petit peu moins galère.

Testing the Sinclair X1 radio that we got in a recent auction. This miniaturised radio was released in 1997 by Sinclair Research (of ZX80, 81 and Spectrum fame) and pops in your ear. It’s got an on-off switch, scan button and a reset.
This one ‘works’ although the signal isn’t great and the audio is a little ‘squeaky’.
