Eric S. Kim is Assistant Professor of Psychology at University of British Columbia. He is a Visiting Scientist and Research Affiliate with the Lee Kumon Sheung Center for Health and Happiness, at the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health and the Human Flourishing Program at Harvard University’s Institute for Quantitative Social Science.
With a key focus being on purpose, his research aims to identify, understand, and intervene upon the dimensions of psychological well-being that reduce the risk of age-related conditions. Professor Kim has published papers in a variety of academic journals including, Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, Preventive Medicine, American Journal of Epidemiology, Health Psychology, and the Journal of Consulting and Clinical Psychology. Many of these studies have been featured in various news outlets including: the New York Times, Los Angeles Times, The Atlantic, CBS News, BBC News, NPR, Time Magazine, and The Washington Post.
He was also recognized as one of Forbes 30 Under 30 in Healthcare (Top 30 Innovators Under the Age of 30), one of the Top 30 Thinkers Under the Age of 30 by Pacific Standard, a American Journal of Epidemiology’s Article the Year recipient, American Psychological Association Division 20 Springer Early Career Achievement Award, and an Association for Psychological Science (APS) Rising Star.
