  • #116: Rekindle Your Childhood Aliveness

Find out how to spark aliveness and the sense of optimism, courage, confidence and contentment that comes along with it.

We spend way too much time living in our heads feeling dulled and disconnected. As adults we move further and further away from natural childhood curiosity and excitement. We mute our enthusiasm for the delightfully simple things in life in exchange for getting more stuff done.

In this episode, Cara talks about a better way to live by being a kid again.

Using her life as example, she takes you on a journey of childhood experiences when she felt awake, engaged and fully alive. Furthermore, she points to how we can rekindle our sense of childhood aliveness by paying attention and noticing flow—our optimal state of awareness when we feel and perform our best.

Finally, she explains how not to bypass the extraordinary opportunities happening every day to live in flow by encouraging you to lean into the experience feeling fully alive and the sense of optimism, courage, confidence and contentment that comes along with it.

  • #115: What Are You Most Curious About?

Find out how to spark your natural seeking curiosity and feel more alive.

Did you know that humans are hard-wired to seek out new and different territories? In other words, we are born naturally curious beings. Being interested in new stuff is our survival mechanism! Unfortunately, as we get older (and busier), we seem to get less curious and more passive. For instance, we may unconsciously jump on Netflix rather than read a non-fiction book, or, scroll through Facebook rather than learn about melting glaciers or the new species of ants recently discovered.

What happened to our natural curiosity—that seeking state we were born with?

In this episode Cara talks about how to re-spark your natural curiosity with a simple protocol. 1) Start by listing 25 topics you are curious about. 2) Create a daily curiosity practice by spending 15 minutes per day on a topic of interest. 3) Enjoy a hit of excitement and a jolt of enthusiasm as you learn and discover new stuff.

Listen and learn how sparking your natural curiosity is an easy way to feel happier and more excited about life.

  • #114: A Great Tool to Make Time Your Ally

Learn how a tomato and 25 minutes gets you into flow every time.

In this episode Cara talks about a powerful tool called The Pomodoro Technique also know as the Tomato Timer. (fun, isn’t it?). She explains how it has been a game changer in her life. In short, it's helped her make time her ally and not her enemy. In other words, she's learned to work with time, not against it. Furthermore and most importantly, she talks about how this simple productivity tool gets her into Flow. Listen for more. Here's the gist.

The process underlying the Pomodoro Technique consists of the following steps:

    * Choose a task you'd like to get done. * Set the Pomodoro Timer (or your phone timer) for 25 minutes. * Work on the task until the bell rings.* Take a 5 minute break (yes take it, stand, stretch, get some water)* Begin again. * Every 4 pomodoros (or 25 minute increments) take a longer break for at least 20 minutes.

However, here’s the challenge. When you are in a pomodoro (or a 25 minute increment) you are only focusing on your clearly stated task. That’s it. No cheating. The phone is off. Your social media is shut down. You are in it. Totally and fiercely focused.

Knowing and being. Learn how to balance the two, what it feels like to be at the extremes, and how to play and dance in flow.

In this episode Cara talks about paying attention to our need to know and yearn to be. Specifically she dives into looking at our desire to devour more and more information and how doing so wreaks havoc on our nervous system. In addition she describes the opposite end of the spectrum, that is seeking state experiences of pleasure and euphoria and how that makes us feel flighty and ungrounded. Furthermore, she explains how to play with the balance of the two. Learn how to recognize extreme states and how being in extremes for too long, in either direction, makes us feel depleted and disconnected. • #112: Your Body Tells The Story

Your body is telling your story. Before you even open your mouth others can sense who you are.

Your state of being walks in the room before you utter a word. Discover how to become fluent in the language of your body by tuning into your nervous system and your state all day long.

In this episode Cara talks about the importance of making our state our priority. She emphasizes how to be stable, clear and calm in order to have a more consistently positive impact on others. She explains how to practice making your optimal states your default states with questions like: where am I, how am I, what needs to change? Do I need to pause, 20 more energy. She encourages to check in with what you may need to do to make a state shift. For example, you may  need to do 10 squats to have more uplifted energy before the call. Or maybe you need some silence to settle before the phone call.Whatever it is, your body is telling your story the moment you walk into a room. What is that story? Are you ready to find out?

Finally, in the words of two greats:

Who you are, speak so loudly. I can't hear what you're saying, who you are, speak so loudly. - Ralph Waldo Emerson

I've learned that people will forget what you said, people will forget what you did.But people will never forget how you make them feel. - Maya Angelou
