When a big storm is coming and you're scared, it helps to make somebody else feel safe.

A story of creative kids, community and kindness, inspired by the 2024 hurricane disasters in Tampa Bay. A girl prepared for space attacks faces a hurricane – and winds up managing her own fears by helping her little brother feel safe as they evacuate (with his annoying pink bear), and when they come back to their damaged home.With heart and humor, kids can safely listen to her family's real-life experience of having an emergency plan and a Save The Day Kit (Go Bag), evacuating to a shelter and camping out with other families in an elementary school classroom during the storm – then coming home to cope with their damaged home and a week without electricity, where they use her solar-powered star nightlight and visit the library and a museum.

With heart and humor, this story explores fear, community, and the quiet courage of people helping each other through an emergency.

Because you can't tell kids that nothing's going to happen. But you can say that if something bad does happen, we are not alone, and kind people will be working hard to help.

This story takes children's fears seriously without amplifying them. It names the scary thing, shows a family moving through it, and models the community resilience that real emergencies require.
