2022 was a year of new beginnings for me.
I re-invented myself as a public speaking coach.
I also launched this podcast - Speak as a Leader - which is now on it’s 13th episode - so it’s lucky number 13, and we’re going into 2023 - so it’s a great time to look back at some of the INCREDIBLE - and I mean TRULY incredible people that I’ve had the privilege of talking to!
You’ve heard senior directors at companies like Google, Facebook, IBM, Walmart and Unilever.
You’ve heard from C-level execs and founders at fast growing startups, best-selling authors. I even surprised my hippie self by talking a director at the Australian Army. And I even got to talk to someone who has served at the Pentagon!
So I’d love to take you on a little journey through how these amazing leaders have learned the art and science of speaking in public and how they’ve become better leaders and influencers through speaking.
Hope you have a fantastic 2023!

Leaders NO LONGER have authority by default.
Nikolai Sirmai became a team leader very early on in his career at Unilever.
And he didn't always have it easy.
"Why should I listen to you?' They asked.
He came up with an answer.
He talks about how he led in these early challenging situations in this podcast.
I’m your host, Nausheen I. Chen. I’m a leadership communications coach. I’ve helped 70+ leaders in 6 countries speak confidently on stage, on camera and in person.

In this episode of Speak as a Leader, Lynn talks about how leadership works at Walmart and how speaking as a leader has deeply impacted her career at Walmart, NYSHEX and beyond.

The #1 reason why most presentations are AWFUL:
The presenter sounds like a robot.
These two gentleman know how to make that emotional connection with the audience when they talk. Lee Oughton and Tim Wenzel (at Meta/Facebook) are two extraordinary people advocating for something ordinary. Kindness.
And what that really means when you speak.

MYTH: A manager isn't bad if they're "hard" on people but deliver results.
REALITY: A manager who is bad with people is a bad manager.
I talk to bestselling author of Lead From the Heart, Mark C. Crowley who makes a strong case for why you don’t need to choose between being good to people and business results.

What happens when you’re a shy introvert AND the COO of a fast growing startup?
You step up.
This is how Dallas Kostna did it. He’s been to MIT, Cornell and the Wharton school. He's been a VP in the financial sector and now a COO. But you wouldn’t know it because Dallas is genuinely the most humble leader I’ve ever had the pleasure of talking to.
I’m your host, Nausheen I. Chen, a leadership communications coach from the world of PR, marketing and training at Fortune 50 companies. I’ve helped 70+ leaders in 6 countries speak confidently on stage, on camera and in person.
