I was born and raised in Fort Worth and attended school there from the first grade and into college. My career started in banking and then furthered my career and education.   

In the Dallas/Fort Worth area, I owned and operated an adolescent drug and alcohol treatment program serving the needs of drug and alcohol dependent kids and served as a board member for a local community theater and a food bank network while living in West Texas.

I have been an active member of various civic organizations including Rotary International and a current member of the Rockport Writers Group, the Rockport/Fulton Chamber of Commerce and current VP of Keep Aransas County Beautiful.   

Writing is my new career after moving to Rockport in 2009 with my wife of nearly forty years, Beth.  Together we have three grown children.

Mary Jane Morgan. Mary Jane received her B.A in communications from Oklahoma State University and was a public relations specialist for years. She published greeting cards and articles for national publications before taking a class in fiction writing and has never looked back. Christine was born in Belgium, in 1959 and has lived in the UK for over 25 years. Her past holds much pain, but it did not stop her from changing her life and building the future she wanted.

Christine had a hard life as a child and a young adult. She suffered abuse at the hands of the nuns, the children in boarding school, her father and her first husband. She had a tumultuous adolescence rife with promiscuity and alcohol.

After she left her abusive childhood home, she was penniless and homeless. Her first husband beat her into a coma 11 months into their marriage.

She endured over 20 years of cruelty, abuse and bullying.

My book “No Fourth River” as I gift a lot of them to charities involved with domestic abuse. They give it to victims who they think need to read the book for them to realize there IS a way out.

What is the one productivity tool you use every day? Why?

Screenshot software for 2 reasons: 1) My short term memory problem does not allow me to remember things I only see once for a few seconds. When I print it and read it again, it is no longer short term memory but moves to another part of the brain. 2) I don’t like the “paperless world” and like to keep printed copies of a lot of things.

What word do you misspell most often?

Make notes with ideas all day long

Read a lot to learn and remember extra vocabulary

What book have you gifted the most? Why?

“Boudicca, Britain’s Queen of the Iceni.” It’s my most popular biography and it’s such a thrilling and beautiful book to read and listen to. People absolutely love receiving signed copies of the book and I love giving them. I also love giving people Audible copies of it.  There’s something very exciting and thrilling about the way Richard Mann performs the book. I’m very proud of the final result.

What is the one productivity tool you use every day? Why?

I seem to use Photoshop almost everyday for some reason. From 2004 to 2009 I worked as a commercial photographer and graphic artist (defying stereotypes of the visually impaired). I love taking pictures and editing them. Fortunately, as a self-published author who publishes in several languages there are many opportunities for me to tinker and play in Photoshop.  Making the covers is often the best part of self-publishing for me.

For marketing, I use a social media publishing platform called Social Jukebox. It makes my life so much easier as it randomly schedules and sends out tweets for me from tweet banks I create in its system.  It’s not free, but the amount of time and energy it saves me is well worth what I pay.

What word do you misspell most often?

Tomorrow and recommend. I never seem to remember how many “m”s, “r”s, or “c”s to use.

What three things do you do to be a successful writer?

I use socialjukebox.com to schedule and randomly send out a mix of marketing tweets, links to informative articles, and links to fun content like music videos and clips from fun television shows and films.

I take naps every day after the mid-day meal to keep my mind sharp and creative.

I set goals but do not force myself to write when my mind isn’t there.

What are the titles of the last two books you have read?

“The Pluto Files” by Dr. Neil deGrasse Tyson explores the politics of labeling Pluto a planet verses a dwarf planet or planetoid.

“Richard Strange’s A Mighty Big If with Peter Capaldi” explores Peter Capaldi’s life and is a wonderful biographical choice.

Both of these books I’ve read as audio books due to my sight loss. They are both on Audible and I highly recommend them.

What is your favorite word?

I think my favourite word is “precisely.”

Linda Naseem has been a writer all her life, but it is only in the past few years that she has started seriously putting words to paper.

Time-outs are my “go-to” productivity tool. Taking consistent breaks from my work helps me recharge and refocus.  I may do a 10-minute meditation, rebound on my rebounder, do yoga or Qigong.

Years ago I was an editor on a magazine staff so I’m a stickler for spelling and rarely make spelling errors. Most errors come from autocorrect apps!

I let go of perfection. Some days the words flow easily, other days seem more challenging. I allow the process to unfold.

Yes and No. A picture has the ability to communicate a message in milliseconds but that message is fairly fixed by the parameters of the image.  While a thousand words would evidently take a longer time to understand, the writing offers an opportunity for more expansive interpretation by the reader providing greater depth and impact.

The mythological Pegasus for its wild spirit and kindness.
