Speaking of Harmony

In this episode I dive into applying substitute II-V progressions over specific harmonic scenarios that allow for a super cool descending chromatic result. I'm using a few classic Brazilian tunes to highlight these drills and some other songs to also apply small sets of the same concept. Enjoy!

In this episode I talk a lot about altered subdominants, a very nice class of chords that can add so much color to the progressions. Main focus is on the altered IV degree with the raised Root, how it occurs so much in Brazilian popular songs and a little bit about the more famous "Neapolitan 6th", the classic altered II degree with the lowered root.
