    Networking is Scary!

We meet people in different ways than we used.  Sometimes, it can be overwhelming.  Technology allows us to connect with an endless amount of people in a short period of time.  This can be very productive if we are focused.  However, if you are not, it can be counterproductive and downright overwhelming.

HR Heidi Torres is a human resources professional with expertise in helping people make the connections they need to advance their career.  Heidi loves to networking although she’s a self-proclaimed introvert.  How is that possible? There’s a difference between enjoying attention and being curious about others.  This episode is a masterclass on how to be more comfortable in public settings and how to use modern networking to your advantage.

  • EP #76: Making Reading Fun with Lois Letchford

You can be stupid and be a doctor.

Learning is necessary for everyone but we all do it in different ways.  Some people struggling to comprehend what they read despite being able to speak words very well.  It’s vitally important that we allow all people to learn and contribute to our world.  Unfortunately, current systems do no always allow.  No one is stupid.

Lois Letchford is highly motivated to make reading fundamental for all learners.  She teaches and writes about how important emotions are in learning.  Her son struggled mightily when we has young and it took many years to figure out not that we was unintelligent, but that other ways of learning were more effective for him.  He is, in fact, very intelligent.  Lois will show you how her son and many other people can benefit from more emotional learning.

  • EP #75: Making Medical Treatment Understandable

There is too much going on in a cancer patient’s life for them to keep track of their treatments and understand how everything works.  What if there was an Amazon for healthcare?  There is.

Mental health is just as important as physical health.  The Internet has too much information at times and a diagnosis can seem like a death sentence.  This is not helpful.  Rebecca Owens founded Swelter, a “patient immersion application” to work with clinicians to provide information for patients and drive awareness.  Less mental stress means more physical health.
