Jess flies West to East for the sentencing of Ghislaine Maxwell. The siblings, the shackles, the curtains, the sentencing. Have you wondered what it's like to run a growing IG page with almost a million followers? What do civic journalists have to offer? Bri and Jess run down the future of journalism, the internet and the metaphors of a screen name like House in Habit.
Bri + Matt travel to Houston, TX for the NRA Conference. Arriving as journalists with NRA memberships, the two recall their time spent at Friday and Saturday's events. The issue of gun control is not cut and dry, and neither is the epidemic of mental health. Violence has been part of the human experience since the dawn of man, but what about technology? Is it fair to not amend the amendments when it comes to assault rifles? Should we be worried about the isolated youths and time spent lonely and online? The compassion is endless and the answers are nowhere to be found. Join us on a journey of well-meaning conversation on these topics.
Bri takes a gorgeous trip to the Paperboy Love Gallery for a sit down with the future of New York City politics and compassion, Paperboy Love. Bri and Paperboy discuss the mental health epidemic, race & gender imbalance, and the importance of expanding art in our community. xoxoxo We love you!!!!
Week 1 of the defamation trial of Johnny Depp v Amber Heard. Both parties are accusing each other of physical, mental and emotional violence after their brief and chaotic marriage. Ms Heard wrote a 2018 piece in the Washington Post about their relationship- Not naming names but absolutely implicating Mr Depp in a way that has completely ruined his career.
April 12, 2022: New York City experienced a terrorist attack on mass transit. 30 hours later, the man behind the crime turned himself in. April 14, 2022 he was arraigned in Brooklyn Federal Court. This is my two cents.
The day after Ghislaine Maxwell was found guilty on 5 of 6 counts, Juror #50 went public in two interviews, detailing his own sexual abuse as a child. Because of these public conversations, it's been insinuated that Juror #50 (1) was not truthful on his intake questionnaire (2) was unbiased and therefore unfit to sit on this jury. The defense argues that Maxwell deserves this to be deemed a mistrial.
What does this mean for the (alleged) victims of Epstein and Maxwell? Will we broaden our conversation on victim shaming? What's the difference between a rape victim and a sexual assault victim? What about male victims of sexual abuse? They so often hide their pain deepest, will this be a turning point in our culture of conversation?
Bri sits down with fellow Maxwell reporter Jacob Shamsian of Insider.com to comb through where things sit as we wait for the judge's ruling.
When was the last time you allowed yourself to be still?
Throwing it back to the pop culture that made us. We are the slumber party you never want to leave. The girls who can’t stop giggling unless it’s to take seriously the breakdown of pop culture & the evolution of “the norm.” The influence of media is a big deal to us & we think it should be for you, too.
We’ve dubbed it Entou-RAGE Against the Patriarchy & we’re talking about the boys of HBO’s Entourage. Taking on the flat tan tummies of 2004, Ari Gold as (deeply attractive) toxic masculinity, & Vinny Chase as the original fuckboy.
The dented us, they built us & now we know better.
LIFE AFTER TEEN RESIDENTIAL TREATMENT: At 6 years old, Bee’s mother passed away. Without a supportive outlet for her grief, she struggled with behavior in the traditional education system. At 14 years old, Bee was looking forward to her time at a Residential Treatment Center. Bee shares with us the culture of trauma that filled the walls of this prison-like experience, and what it’s like to have hindsight on her trauma as an adult.
