Kay Fenton Smith is the co-author of Zakery’s Bridge: Children’s Journeys From Around the World to Iowa, the book that inspired Press Director Carol Spaulding-Kruse to found the Drake Community Press. Kay joins Editorial Intern CJ to reflect on Zakery’s Bridge 10 years later, the collaborative nature of the project and the personal bridges she crossed writing it.

Carol Spaulding-Kruse is the founder and executive director of the Drake Community Press. Carol joins Editorial Intern CJ to discuss the DCP’s mission, how we impact the community, our next big project and the concept of ‘writing with.’
